Lovely placeAnyone been to Scopello in Sicily ?
Plenty of nice restaurants, not too busy ?Lovely place
Went for a week a few years ago. We stayed on the coast down from Lindos. Rhodes old town is lovely and if I was going again I'd try and stay there. You have to visit the Grand Master's Palace (how the hell they moved those massive stones around is incredible). The Acropolis at Lindos is well worth a visit too but try to get there really early, the queues are massive. If you go on the bus to Lindos note that the bus stops at the top of a hill and the walk back up from the town is knackering (we got a taxi back to our hotel!).Mrs booked week in Rhodes in September for us. Neither of us been and looking forward to it. Been going Nice and south of France for 7 of last 8 years and she fancied a change
Assuming you mean the place in Sicily (for all I know there may be another). It is very small and wasn't busy when I was there in October but August may be very different. Three or four good restaurants, small pebble beach, stunning views.Plenty of nice restaurants, not too busy ?
Thanks

I went to Costa Teguise in Lanzarote in between Christmas/New Year in 23/24.Anyone been away between Xmas and NY to Canaries?
If so, is it warm enough to sunbathe generally? Only ever been between April - October and it’s always been pleasant enough although sonetimes only warms up from 11 ish in April.
Starting our road trip on Monday in Venice and driving south. Can't wait, temps are high!Just a quick heads up. A public service broadcast if you like.
Do NOT go to Puglia on the heel of Italy . It’s a proper dump . There’s no Irish bars, or pubs selling full English brekkies. The little historical towns with their bloody historical towers and cathedrals and Roman ruins , their Ottoman inspired buildings which are free to visit in most cases just aren’t worth the effort.
Extortionate prices for food and drink is the norm. Yesterday I was charged 3 Euro for a 660 ml bottle of Peroni Rosso and had to drink it on a crappy terrace overlooking the Adriatic Sea.
They can’t even cook spaghetti. I’ve had it 4 times and it’s nothing like the Heinz tins.
And don’t even get me started on the restaurant owner who left me a bottle of wine at my Airbnb because we visited his establishment.
Don’t drive on the road from Otranto to Santa Leuca de Maria on the coast road because there’s nothing to see.Its like a boring M61.
The locals are miserable sods and as soon as I find out what Ciao and Buongiorno mean , which they all call me with a smile on their face, I’m gonna kick off.
Some of them even pretend to know Manchester Citeeeeeeee.
Right .
Back to Fuengirola next year .

We've booked 4 nights in Menorca next year. Only been once before in 2000.Got back last Wednesday from Menorca, nice and quiet (except a small group from Leeds)......Sunday off to Turkey with my young(ish) lads, their mother has packed the little I don't have at mine, they have no idea we're going away....until we get to Bournemouth Airport, and I ask them for their passports ;) .......hopefully they won't freak too much!

Where my uncle was blown to pieces on the beach thanks to Winnie.I was in Rome and Anzio two weeks ago.
It never fell below 35 during the day.
Unbearable!
Don't thegyppostravelling community go there at Christmas and New Year?
I was up the coast from there.....Los Delfines, just to west of Ciutadella. Nice place, lucky I prefer pool to beach....as 20 people would make it the Kippax on Derby day....standing!!!We've booked 4 nights in Menorca next year. Only been once before in 2000.
We were looking for somewhere to view the total solar eclipse and had considered our usual go-to Catalunya options, but the view wouldn't be great looking West.
Then we thought about Mallorca, combining the viewing with a trip to Palma, but the views wouldn't be great from there either because of the headland.
Then we stumbled on Cala en Bosc in the South-West corner of the island - look at Google maps and check out the desolation of that West coast. It seems like there will be plenty of room there even if a large crowd were to gather. In terms of eclipse viewing, think we might have stumbled on a gem because the angle will be good from there, you can see right out to sea - i.e. straight to the horizon - and the price seems fairly normal.
