Holidays

Thinking of a week away in mid- late Feb and looking at all inclusive Morocco
It'd cost around £700 each in a really top rated hotel
Obviously people are gong to say "Morocco = shit hole", but do any bluemooners holiday there regularly?
I've been there a couple of times but not recently. All things considered it's not a shithole at all and there's all sorts going on.

I'm looking at flights for Japan next year. On the off chance that Covid kicks off again and they close their borders to foreigners do I have any kind of cover regarding refunds etc?

Flight only bookings offer the least consumer protection, and it always boils down to if the flight operates or not.
Flights do still operate even when countries have banned tourists, so even a partial border closure doesn't guarantee a flight cancellation.

But I think we're beyond all that stuff now, so I wouldn't worry about it.
Plus there are likely some insurers who will offer a policy to safeguard against this should the unlikely happen.

Is it Marrakech or Agadir?

I went to the former earlier this year, stayed in the Iberostar and in all honesty when within the hotel I could've been anywhere in the world.
Going to the Medina area one evening was an experience though.

I'm due to go Agadir next year so can't comment on that destination too much, but I gather it's a bit of a 'Marrakech on sea' type thing.

Think Morocco is an interesting destination; quite amazing how you can fly for 3 hours and be somewhere completely different to our Western lifestyle.
I can understand why some people think it's a shit hole, but equally can understand why some people find the country fascinating.

Might be a bit chilly in February.

Thinking of booking a week in Lake Garda...May time for the Mrs and I...as a Xmas present.

Any recommendations/advice....is that a decent time of year to go?
Depends what you are going for I would say. A good friend of mine goes there quite a lot and prefers June/September as the weather is generally a bit warmer and not as many rainy spells. If weather is not an issue then I don’t suppose it matters so much.

Thanks for this
I've checked the expected daily temperature for February and it's 20° which is similar to the Canaries
Night time the temp will dip but that's to be expected
Just really looking for a bit of winter sunshine, but the danger is, especially on the coast, if there's a strong breeze and the only place to lie on a sunlounger is round the pool and nowhere to shelter from the wind

Agree with this assessment, I liked going into the Atlas mountains, little villages are like going back in time.
Dislikes are people trying to flog you stuff as you walked down the street, funny at first then fucking annoying. I think I went in Feb and was freezing (relatively) though, take a coat !

I need a holiday booked in the diary to help with motivation. We tend to be aoûtiens so Les Grandes Vacances for 2023 have been booked for the whole of August, going to have a poke around Côté d’Azur for 3 weeks and then do a week in the Alps on the way back to Calais.

I went to Marrakech all inclusive in April. First time I'd done all inclusive and it was really good - kept the kids fed at least! We got lucky with the weather as the final day started to cloud over and it was chilly. I wouldn't have thought Feb is warm at all, but you might get lucky - hard to predict the weather these days. The medina is a great experience and the mountains around Marrakech are stunning. I'd recommend it, it's one of my favourite holidays.

Heading to Canada next july for 16 days, 4 day Toronto 4 day Vancouver and the rest on the road. Anyone recommend an app or a Canadian site to book acc while on the road. Finding hotels very expensive.
Maybe looking at nice guest houses. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thinking of booking a week in Lake Garda...May time for the Mrs and I...as a Xmas present.

Been a few times, last time this year in august.
May can be cloudy as is alot of northern Italy that time of year.
Been to most places around the lake with my favourite being desenzano del garda, and it has a train station, so 2 hrs to venice, 1hr to milan, just over half hour to verona and 15mins to brescia.all worth visiting if you've never been.only problem with this area is the limited ferry service around the lake if you have no car.for that reason malcesine or bardalino would be better options as tgey sre central, and both nice resorts.if you want any info on anything pm me and I'd be happy to help.great place and you'll have a great time.

We had our honeymoon in Lake Garda. May into June 2016. A gorgeous place with plenty to do and see. Food fantastic too but that'll be of no surprise as its Italy.

We stayed in Malcesine which is in the North of the lake. Views we stunning and when we got the weather it was just a really gorgeous place to relax. However, the weather was really hit and miss. It could be raining in the North but then further south could be clear blue skies. We had a few days on the south of the lake (Bardolino) when the weather wasn't great in Malcesine.

We also took in Verona and Venice whilst there.

Lovely place that we plan to go back to a few more times before we're pushing up daisies.

Thats great cheers....a friend had been and suggested hiring a car....and drive to venice and milan etc

The possible weather could be an issue...the Mrs likes the sun!

Cheers, yeah my thoughts were to go to the south of the Lake...but it looks like the views arent as spectacular as the North...

From January Venice is going to charge visitors who are not staying for at least two nights up to €10 each to get in.

After 2 years of delays, we are finaly in Lapland. Huskie and Raindeer rides this morning, and a shaman hut. Then went for a secluded snow walk this afternoon and currently chilling in our log cabin before an early dinner, then snowmobiling tonight in the hope of seeing the northern lights.
