Holidays

Disappointed that when we were there on a cruise, that we didn't see it because somebody said it's a waste of time unless you are into architecture
Well, there may be some truth in that. We spent ages wandering around the outside, filming videos and taking photos from every conceivable angle, both in the daylight and returning when it went dark, but not so long inside the place.

But I don't think you have to be "into architecture" to appreciate it. It's jaw-dropping to look at. I can't think of anywhere else like it in Europe.

Here's our video.

Does anyone think 7 nights in Santorini is worth the holiday length sacrifice over 12 nights in places like Portugal, Spain, Corfu or the Canary Islands? Late August as well. It’s too expensive for the same length. Would be in Kamari most likely so not in the main touristy bit with the views.

What's drawing you to santorini?

I've had a look online and most of the excursions on offer are matched by those in the Canary Islands.

If you aren't getting the spectacular views doesn't seem a fair trade off for almost half the holiday length but only you can make that judgement.

Somewhere like Lindos in Rhodes/Rodos Island has traditional whitewashed buildings and the old town and the island is comparatively cheaper.

All depends what you want from a holiday. If it is all inclusive all the way and chill out in the resort or excursions, sightseeing and eating out.

The mrs has randomly decided we're going with the three kids to Jordan next month to visit Petra. She's always wanted to go and easyjet had some cheap flights out of Gatwick over half term so off we go. Got three under 6 and a 6hr flight to endure. Wish me luck.

Off to Copenhagen on Friday, does anybody know any decent pubs to watch the Arsenal game in?

I fancy Lake garda this year any recommendations, is it best to book flights and hotel separately or use tui ect, need a car because I like to travel around and see some new places.

Not sure if you got a response on this. Not done Lake Garda before, but I went to Lake Como/Maggiore a few years ago and booked it all separately. Did a combination of campsites (got young kids) and airbnbs around lake como and hired a car. Recommend it for anyone with kids to be honest. Morning spent driving to different spots and seeing the sights, afternoons swimming in the lake/pool at the campsite. The airbnb we rented had a stunning view and a pool and it was just fantastic. I'm sure Garda is spectacular as well. There are three Milan airports so plenty of cheap flight options. We flew into Bergamo, picked up a car and then drove from there. I doubt there'd be much point to doing a package deal. Skyscanner your flights, scout airbnb/booking.com for places to stay and go explore at your own pace. Morning coffee on the lake, lunch on a different spot...perfection!
