What's the best area for beauty, harbour, restaurants etc, not too bothered about beaches, prefer a harbour with restaurants around it :)

The Californian cruise was superb.. my favourite stop was San Diego and I’d love to have more time there.. The two Nimitz Class Carriers in the harbour were very impressive and I’d love to have more time to have eaten in the large Italian community there.. We may go back sometime

I would take 1 day in San Diego over a week in LA. Its a great place and I've got the same opinion on New York, I thought Boston was far better. But its all about experiences or what the travel brochures tell you . I was very surprised to hear about the drug problems in vancouver which is a place I've not been but thought I was missing out as it looks beautiful in the world's best cities list

Went to Langkawi last week. The best thing about it is tax free alcohol. The worst thing is that for the first time in my life I got sunburnt through my hair, marking me as an official bald man.

Stoke-on-Trent. A place with fascinating locals and unusual customs, as well as their unique cuisine, the oatcake. Sadly, Cobridge Dog track, which was their answer to Versailles, is no longer there.

Padstow in North Cornwall is a busy harbour and has good restaurants especially sea food. Port Isaac is a beautiful little harbour and Tintagel is always worth a visit. The castle is a bit of a walk but worth it. Porth Leven on south coast is nice too.
We also used to go to Marazion near Penzance which has stunning views of St Michaels Mount.
Roseland Peninsula is a nice drive too.
We just explored and found loads of nice coves and villages.

I think i will give Lanzarote a visit at the end of January, never been before. Is it ok for a four night stay?

Just got back from there last Sunday. Went to Puerta Del Carmen. If you like plenty of restaurants and bars, then that's the place to go. Not too many young people either. Watched the Southampton game in Arthur's Bar which is full of City flags and memorabilia. It's the base for the Lanzarote official supporters club. As for a 4 night stay, we found that 7 days weren't quite enough, but I suppose it depends on what you are looking for.

Booked a few days in Hammerfest in March, lifelong ambition. Few days either side in Tromso. Was hoping to make it January or February but work wasn’t going to let that happen.

Still hoping to get to Archangel one day, but might be while on that…

No mate it isn't and i'm afraid the reference has gone right over my head. The bloke was my gaffer 20 years ago, he left to become a holiday rep made manager, next thing i know he runs this place. I can only assume his fella owns it or he came into some money ;)

Falmouth or Portleven. Padstow and Rock are full of SW1 types.

If I were venturing down that way again it would be to Noss Mayo in Devon.

Off to see our kid in Torrevieja next month.. Looking for four days car hire with pickup at Alicante if anybody has any tips on which company to use..

I’ve looked at some companies on the EasyJet website but some have scary excess values for “damage” so I’d rather go on a recommendation than dive in blind
