Holidays

What are the best places to visit in Austria? I am going there with the car and have two weeks in total, so lots of time to discover the country. Found the vignette for Austrian highway here austriavignette.com, is there any reason why shouldn't buy it online? Appreciate some recommendations.

Off to the Carribbean after Christmas after a brief stop in Tenerife then a trans-Atlantic dash on P&O’s new ship Arvia… Escape this f*cking cold

The one day we needed trains to be running was the 5th of January and it‘s now likely to be a day of further strikes… Looks like a very expensive trip to Soton by air or renting a car one way… not happy

one or two knocking about in Dominican, had a bit of a nightmare with a guy from Belarus when the bar refused service to him,he thought it a good idea to just neck other peoples drinks. hotel canceled his booking and turned him out on the street,following morning he was outside the front sleeping on a bench with his suitcase next to him

Tell you somert though,that airport has no facility for a smoke,I don't smoke myself anymore,but on vape these days,and there is no outside terrace like Gran Canaria or Lanzarote,that was disappointing,considering our flight coming in from Manchester was very late.

And please,if you coming back into Manchester tonight,don't come back in shorts and t shirts like some did on our flight,freezing mon,freezing when you get off

just done Dominican and vaping is the saviour, regular vaping kits you refill are no good on planes they tend to leak with the cabin presure, so bought a couple of disposable ones, sat in my window seat with hoodie over head pretending to have a nap while really supping my JD and having a smoke,just like the old days ;-)

We always go in April. Don't go less than 5 star.
We're looking at Royalton Cayo Santa Maria (never been there before) around April 8th.
Usually go to Varadero and have been to Cay Coco once.
If yu go to Varadero, take a taxi into Havana for the day (done that twice).
 
Could someone shed a little light on the proposed boarder force strikes?

Looking to go away for new year but been told in the pub tonight flights may get cancelled etc? First I’ve heard.

Why do Tui only do three nights in Havana?

TUI are OK they do what it says on the tin but most certainly you will have a delay,we went to Dominican two weeks back and had two hours,day after daughter went to Phucket and had 3 hours and son went to Jamaica last wed and had a two hour, it seems the norm with them and the return flights,no on board TV screen for us so they have settled on £40 compo per head

trouble is these days TUI have no real competition in that section of the market outside of Europe,Thomas Cook was the serious competitor which drove down prices and since there fall prices have remained high for long haul, by saying that my daughters flight to Thailand was £990 with TUI and stick another £100 on for an xtra 2'' of leg room so £1090, Emirates came in at £1200 with more seat pitch in economy so the extra £110 is money well spent, the food on TUI well its debatable if its fit for human consumption or not,i wouldnt give it the dog its disgracfull,infact the dog would turn its nose up if it was presented with this in its dish 'it certainly raised an eybrow when we were dished up an egg butty as the main meal on our return from Dominican',TUI is nothing more than a long haul Ryanair with a few added frills to dress it up, the Dreamliner seat pitch in economy cant be much more than Ryanair most likely the same which would be the minimum legal requirement, everyone to there own but il splash a little more next time im on long haul

was thinking of a quickie in Tenerife around the 8th jan, i could book it around the weather forecast go on the 5th or 12th for eg,anyone know of a good reliable weather app

Weather is changeable in the canaries in jan feb and March . More cloud than anything else but it is still warm and a shorts and T-shirt job during the day . Hoodie at night though . We go to Lanzarote every feb / March weather was glorious for our entire stay last time .

I was there last week and the met office app seemed to get it spot on for the duration of our stay.

Sometimes as already eluded to above you can get cloud cover at this time of year, but that soon shifted and went back to blue skies.
 
We're taking advantage of Thailand increasing the time you can spend there without a visa..so 44 nights it is from end of January and get back a fortnight before the clocks go forward.

Me and Mrs are going Teguise in January,FA Cup weekend,hopefully temp will be pleasant enough.
