Home brewing successes and fails ( beer and wine)

Fail and Success combined.

I was gifted a Water distillation pot air still that unfortunately burned too hot to create anything illegal from the sugar wash that had been fermenting in my shed by accident. However thanks to the internet with just the addition of a £15 voltage regulator you can can alter the temp of the kettle allowing you to create spirits if you live in a country that permits that evil Tom Foolery.

Christmas Eve, 1996 - Woodforde's Wherry bitter in a pressure barrel. Timed the fermentation just right, and the outside temperature was perfect for storing in the lean-to.

Absolutely shedded.
Woodfordes Wherry is my regular & favourite home brew. It keeps really well if you use screw top bottles too. I still have 20 pints bottled & stored from my last brew up. It’s a cracking beer.

The first summer in my current home, I put together a few home brews as well as making a few flavoured gins & had a free beer festival for my family & new neighbourhood. I asked everybody to bring some food as I was supplying the booze.
It was brilliant. Everyone underestimated the strength of the beers & got absolutely smashed, but had a great time.
I have wanted to repeat the event, but it takes a lot of effort & careful planning to time all the brewing so it doesn’t go off before the event if you are going to keep & store in barrels & life keeps getting in the bloody way.
