Home grown players - any out there would improve us?

And here's why we look abroad... :-)

Honestly think Will Hughes would be a very good option and since he's not in the PL he'll be a realistic price. From the matches I saw him in over the past two seasons he's not too far off the standard of the much vaunted premier league English teen talent going for £30, £40 million (he might even be better but harder to judge due to being in the championship). Sure he might not start against the likes of chelsea Chelsea or Real Madrid but the lower half of the table flanked by Silva and Nasri the kid would thrive, learning off them every week he'd become a very special player.

True I think he could go far if he gets a move. I think McClaren has done a great job with there young players since he took over. They should be in the league instead of QPR. I think if they keep hold of everyone they will be promoted next season. I think Derby could well be the new Southampton for the young players. Also look out for that young forward Bennett to be introduced into there first team squad in the coming season or 2. Only 17 I think.

Curious to see how Ings does in the premier league this season with Burnley.

This is a great topic, but the chances for home grown players is slim due to the abundance of talent we currently have from abroad.

Will Hughes is a future propspect, much like Jack Rodwell, so I'm not sure how that would go.

I am still in the belief that Micah Richards deserves more of a chance, he is EXACTLY what Manchester City should represent and he should be given more time to play - the fact he didn't get a winners medal because he didn't play enough in the league honestly shocked me!

My point exactly. He doesn't play enough.

Micah had been carrying an injury throughout last season, If we hadn't of signed Sagna I would have expected him to rotate more or less half of our games with Zabba, but maybe he could go CB, alongside Vinny?

He just isn't good enough to be a RB for our team any more. He was always, always out of position when it came to defensive positioning -- he is too stocky to get back after an attack. The game we lost to Sunderland 1-0, he's at the halfway line as James Milner attempts to cover the right flank. Doesn't go to plan and they score and we lose. All while Micah is 40 yards from his man.

He's too stiff to be a CB and would get abused by tricky attackers. Good straight line speed but that's it.

Emyr Huws looks very classy. Anxious to see what happens with him. Needs another full year out on loan.
