Homeschooling during lockdown

Getting stuff sent through on the internet, we have a weekly schedule as my 8 year old is in a class higher now, it’s good to have some structure but the biggest thing I find is having patience when she doesn’t get it! I forget she’s only 8 sometimes and I can see it’s so simple but obviously not for her.
We bought her a laptop at Xmas so this is a great help as well accessing lots of stuff, I’m even doing French with her, Christ she’s only 8 I didn’t start that until I was 11. I start the day doing PE with Just Dance on the Nintendo switch 45 mins gets a sweat on then we do until about 1pm with small breaks of the various subjects she has planned. Then the rest of the day is hers and mine, we go for a walk around the estate for 30 mins in the afternoon and that’s pretty much it.
We could send her to school but as it seems more kids are going than last time then it’s a no as my wife is diabetic and it’s better to be safe, we have our good and bad days but bloody hell I can’t wait for all this to be over, love my daughter and wife but couped up 24/7 is not good.

First time round as both boys were in different rooms and I was in office working I told them that we had downloaded spyware on their laptops that showed us which websites they were on to make sure they weren’t online gaming - worked a treat

Working 5am to just before 9am.

Doing a school day from 9am-3pm.

Working 3pm-8pm.

Bit busy.

Piece of piss and I'm really enjoying it so far.

We get finished by 1 and spend the afternoon exercising and playing FIFA.

I could defo get used to it.

How do you do that? Wright Robinson have actual online lessons.

We have three boys there and they all have to be at the computers for each and every lesson.
Each lesson takes a roll call and doesn't just trust that they are logged in.
Then throughout the lesson, the teachers ask them to unmute and verify they are actually still there.
Each lesson is only separated by 5 mins. They get a short break before noon, and half hour for dinner (lunch for southerners)
They start 8.55 and finish 14.45.

Talk about stress. We are flitting between each child. Then looking dumb when we don't know some answers ourselves!
Then let's not mention how flaky the actual online portal is. We are using Teams and it is a minefield where the teachers store stuff.
Then, the teachers spend more time getting pupils to reboot their computers and catching up with late arrivers!
I don't really drink, but i can understand why people do!

One nipper.

The school sends "tasks" per subject each day via an online portal. 4-5 tasks per day, designed to take about 1 hour each to complete.

There are no actual "lessons" or interaction with teachers, unless the child has an issue.

We start at 9 and have been finishing at about 1 each day.

The system works well for us. My youngster is "on it" as am I, but I can see how having more than 1 nipper or a child who needs a classroom environment could easily make things challenging as fuck.
