Considering the overwhelming majority of football fans, let alone their other readers wouldnt be bothered by it and only 8% of football fans would be bothered by it, it would be more than stupid of any media publication to take that sort of backward thinking stance.

I'd hope you were right but the press think sex sells. Over the years there has been a parade of shallow bimbo's writing about the latest no-mark celeb who she's given VIP access to her clopper and the papers will tell you for some reason that sort of lurid tales leads to an increase in sales. They always do the expose' type of story then invite the victim to tell their side of the story.
