Gio had the talent to be better than Silva & as good as Messi but not the attitude or application. Because of that, he is nowhere near to being one of City's best players, just a wonderful talent who occasionally showed us what he could have done every game, if he could have been arsed.

Silva is twice the player Gio was.

I've not read any posts past this but this sums things up perfectly.

Kinky was a great player in a poor team.
Silva is a world class player in any team.

You think Kinkladze had the talent to be as good as Messi!!! WOWW

Words just fail to even express how staggering that comment is, anybody who agrees he had the talent to be as good as Messi must be on some strong medication, VERY strong.

Silva and Kinky are different players. Silva is all touch and small passes, little darting runs into space, a little genius.
Kinky on the other hand was more of a dribbler than a passer. But boy what a dribbler. That Southampton goal still gives me goosebumps. The way he drifted past people still sticks in the memory.

Kinky or Silva?

Kinky at the moment due to Silva not having as many class moments.

What an absurd post.

Why? It's an opinion. Silva will be remembered in time as one of our greatest ever midfielders, and rightly so. But not yet, not after 1 season and a bit. As i said, Kinky had more brilliant moments...so far...

Ignore the shit music...

I will qualify my original comment and say that your last sentence was absurd. If you define class moments as purely beating a man then that would render it less absurd, I grant you, however when you look at the number of killer passes and moments of composure from Silva in what is, in my opinion, a much stronger Premier League than was the case 1995/6 then to say he has not had as many class moments when he is the fulcrum of our side when we are tearing the rest of the league apart, is utterly absurd.

Moreover it does not stand up to any objective scrutiny.

Kinkladze was a good player in an average and subsequently poor side. We declined as a force during his time at the club.

Great players pull up those around them. Insire and lift them to be more than they otherwise would. Kinkladze did none of these things.

I have a number of friends who are Derby fans and they find the reverence which City fans hold Kinkladze as baffling and, yes, a little absurd. If he had been anything even approaching a great player then the prrof would have been in the pudding of his subsequent career.

A good player, with a sublime touch and prodigious acceleration. But not fit to lace Silva's boots.

Never in a million years.

I watched Gio home and away while he was at City, and he was anonymous for the most part.

If a manager like Royle had come along earlier, he would have been dropped in time and we'd have been saved from Div 3. But that was a blessing in disguise

Quite simply one of the worst posts I have ever read on here. Astonishing.

So you think Royle didn't have enough time to save us? Jesus wept.

Apparently not. This despite the fact that Portsmouth were 6 points adrift of us at the bottom of the table, albeit with a game in hand, when Royle was appointed our manager yet somehow managed to survive whereas we didn't. This, coupled with the fact that we only picked up 5 points out of a possible 18 in the games where Kinkladze was left out of the team, doesn't back up Marvin's observation whatsoever.

To be fair though, I think there have been deluded posts made on both sides of the fence on this thread.

watched both vids and I can't chose between them as they both play/played their hearts out for the team, but basing it on todays game I think Silva just has the edge, tougher opponents, But TWO of MCFC very best.
