This all day long........

I think somebody compared this to ali/tyson debate, absolute garbage!!!!

Iniesta/Silva yes, but Kinkladze/Silva not in a million years. Kinkladze was an average prem player at the very best, probably a decent championship player in all reality. Its absolutely mind boggling how some of you regard him so highly and are comparing him with Silva. I want what some of you lot are smoking, it might make work go about quicker.

Where has anyone said he is as good a player as Silva?

The players are compared because they both posess mesmering skills and the ability to produce flashes out of the brilliance, others players are not capable of.

Decent championship player...priceless

The title of the thread is "Honestly who is/was better?" maybe you should read before posting.

To ask who's better out of Silva and Kinkladze is as somebody else as already said, like asking who's better out of Goater and Aguero. Kinkladze left City to move onto bigger and better things at Ajax and managed just 12 appearances in 2 years without ever scoring and yet still some of you are comparing him to Silva, it really really is astonishing how deluded some people are about Kinkladze.

It's also astonishing how short your memory is.

Kinky was signed by the Ajax boss who was then sacked without Kinky ever having played for him.

The new bloke came in and decided Kinkladze was a left winger, and you wonder why he didn't do well there?

Kinkladze was a fucking brilliant player, even more so when you think of the shite he had to play with, Silva is a better player, but he wouldn't have been as good in THAT side as Gio was.

Oh, and Joe Royle was a **** for doing what he did to him.

I'll always be grateful to Royle for getting us 2 consecutive promotions but he ended up having form at our club for this kind of thing - Kinkladze, Wanchope, and Weah were all sidelined at some point. It was bad enough doing it with Kinkladze but the story surrounding Weah was perhaps more astonishing.<br /><br />-- Sat Nov 12, 2011 9:40 am --<br /><br />

I remember Kinky having to point to Brightwell I think, where to make a run so he could give him the ball.
I think Brightwell was stood behind him at the time

I was a huge fan of Brightwell - one of the most underrated players to pull on a City shirt - but that is piss funny!

I am 100% convinced that Kinkladze could play with these players we have now. I wholly agree with probably every blue that Silva is a much better player, probably the 3rd best player in world. What some blues are having difficulty with is that this doesn't make Kinky a shite player or a decent championship player or whatever insulting comment they want to make. We can still like Kinky, whilst accepting Silva is better.<br /><br />-- Sat Nov 12, 2011 9:08 am --<br /><br />

It's scary when you think of it like that isn't it?

I also remember Kinky beating 3 players and cutting across the box for Nicky Summerbee to hit the post from 3 yards out on a virtual open goal. And numerous occasions when he would roast 3/4 players and give a killer final ball for our players to miskick, sometimes fall over the fucking ball lol! It was painful/comical at times.

lets be honest we ruined kinkladze, should have left us after the first season could have had his pick of many of the top clubs then who knows what he could have become.
did he not also suffer from depression??? prob brought on by playing wiv the likes of pollock vaughans of this world

I watched Gio home and away while he was at City, and he was anonymous for the most part.

If a manager like Royle had come along earlier, he would have been dropped in time and we'd have been saved from Div 3. But that was a blessing in disguise

no doubt he could play in this current, think of how much space him and silva would create for one another.

Would kinky get in the current Spanish squad?
No he wouldn't. Some of the comments on here are comical.

People are basing these views on one season in the Premier League. Any other performances for us (other than West Ham in the Cup in 1997) are virtually worthless as they were against sub-standard players and sub-standard teams.

I cannot believe that people are even contemplating the OP's question as a possibility.

They sound like the fathers of a kid who didn't make the grade saying that their son is better than those that did. Understandably loyal but ultimately deluded.

If Kinkladze was good enough he'd have made it at a top club over a sustained period, rather than fleetingly for us when we got relegated.
