Hooliganism and Violence Maine Road 80's/early 90's

Weird video indeed. I don't remember Millwall putting up much of a fight aside from a small battle in the North stand. Outside they were cowering behind the police along with Donald MacIntyre who was filming. They also shit it coming down and got off the train at Stockport.
wasn't that an arranged scrap with Utd?

GMP gave them a right twatting in the North stand. Reading yoof ffs

I’m sure there was a Friday night televised game at the Swamp v Spurs in Dec 83 which attracted less than 30000.
Crowds in general were dropping around then due to unemployment, hooliganism etc. There were many games at Anfield played out against a backdrop of hundreds of empty seats in the Kemlyn Road stand .

I remember buying the Pink in the 80s and being gobsmacked that Liverpool had lost 1-0 at home to bottom of the table Wolves in front of 20,000.

So I looked it up: 20,747 83/84

88/89 was the worst for attendances, Utd's lowest attendance that year was 23,368

Wasn't that against Wimbledon?
I remember ripping into the rags in the Our House pub in Heywood over that attendance at the time

They got off the train at Stockport because there were united fans getting coaches down to Nottingham outside a pub on the other side of the station. Not sure if they got put back on the trains or were marched up from Stockport, but there were loads of them of them getting a police escort up Claremont road, with riot vans and helicopters above. They weren't cowering though in fairness to them

I was about to watch this then the first thing I see is an inclusion of Blazin' Squad.
funny as fuck....gave up at "City got a pasting at Leeds away"

They weren't there obviously.

Blazing squad......ffs

Not quite sure what both of your issues are really about the then younger group until the last few years?

If there was no 'Blazin Squad' at the matches, there wouldn't have been much trouble at matches between groups looking for a bit of aggro from 2006 until the last few years.

If you were ITK you would know the name blazin squad was originally given to the younger firm as a p*ss take from some of the older lads, and eventually, the younger lads just went with it and took the name.

They got off and legged it out of the back of the station, up onto the Armoury roundabout, police then put them back on the train to, I assume, Piccadilly. If they'd gone out of the front of the station it might have been different but a couple of coaches of scum would've been mullered if they'd met, Millwall had a full train and they all alighted at Stockport, it was a very tidy looking mob that day.
