Hooliganism and Violence Maine Road 80's/early 90's

The Claremont was a pretty tasty pub on non match days. I had a pal round there so used to pop in now and then when I was living in Whalley Range. I don't know about the last Derby but I remember it as a very non-welcoming place to United fans any day of the week.
Always remember there being a lot of Irish rags who lived round there on match days. Used to park by Alexandra Park gates and have a couple in the Claremont before moving on to the Bee Hive. Rough as but never saw any mither, but felt like you needed to watch your back. My mate drove so could enjoy the wonderful Hydes and Holts on Claremont Rd. Happy days miss Maine Rd so much.

You should have asked if they could have got the players to sign the shirt aswell.
Hahaha the signatures were that bad it might have just been passed around the Claremont to be fair. I’ve still got the shirt. It looks too small to be a players shirt but it had a proper player number on the back number 11 so either Simmo or Steve Kinsey I think.

Lots of Irish Blues as well including my family and virtually all my pals. Withington, Moss Side,, and Whalley Range were very Blue with Chorlton 50/50 in the 70s and 80s. Most of the Caribbean community were also Blues.
