Always remember walking down to Maine Road from our house in Hulme. There was often trouble after big games on the fields near the Old Abbey. My old dad used to walk the dog down there as rival fans kicked crap out of each other!
I might be wrong but I’m pretty sure that was 2 blues decided to have a go at each other in the square near the river; Chelsea were nowhere to be seen ( that’s me in the sunnies in the background looking bemused!)

Somehow made it back to the Supporters club at Maine Rd. Very relieved .
Used to drink in the old Abbey late 80s for a good few years ..few of the old Ancoats branch used to meet in there before matches and I often ended up there last thing at night too..
Great juke box.
