Just watched the video of the police going in and fuck me it's like they were fighting a building full of terrorists not one guy. 30 seconds of gun fire from about 6 police officers and 2 flash bangs thrown in. The hostages must have been shitting themselves. Seemed very overkill.

Thankfully the lack of guns meant he had one not very good gun and not an arsenal of machine guns - Australia's gun laws a huge blessing.

This shouldn't in my view be seen as terrorism the guy is a well known nut job, he was facing charges of indecent assault from his spiritual healing clinics and for procuring the murder of his ex wife. I think ISIS was a flag of convenience to get attention but overall he was a mentally ill criminal.

Time to keep calm and carry on

Australia is easy to get into for migrants to get in with the right skills probably the hardest country in the world to get into illegally. To make it illegally unless you stay on longer on a tourist visa, you have to get across Asia to indonesia, get on a boat, avoid the navy, avoid Sharks , crocodiles, sunstroke, tides, starvation make it to land, get across 3000km of desert to reach civilisation and then successfully create a new identity without the authorities noticing.

The guy concerned was actually a refugee about 20 years ago.

Tell me, how was this **** not in jail, let alone be allowed in Australia? The laws are too soft! If he'd been locked up prior to yesterday's events, there would have been outrage from certain parts of society claiming Aussies are racist. Time to stop being 'politically correct' and get rid of these *****! Cause nothing but trouble.

He wasn't locked up because the evidence presented against him on the attempted murder charge and assault charges was very weak according to the court (sounds like charges were close to being dismissed) so bail was granted . I have no idea if this is true or not and what the case was but that was the legal reason.

How was he free to roam the streets with that criminal record though? Listen to the news reports whenever someone gets king hit in Kings Cross, or drive by shot in Bankstown...The people involved are always 'known to police' or are out on bail...it's time to stop acting soft and lock up these nutters. If there's no room in prison, send them back to where they came from and never let them back.
