Far from it by the looks of things mate. The security services proper unloaded through an open door from outside. Mind, in these situations there's no such thing as using too much ammunition!
Does sound like they were forced into action of some sort and probably hadn't intended to go in.

Having seen it again, not quite as much gunfire as I first thought. Lots of stun grenades.
 
Stormed the back of the café and tried to break down 2 doors but only got one down, loads of thunderflases thrown then shots, well done Aussies, textbook operation
