It makes islam relevant to this thread and situation ....

That's where years of media bombardment takes its hold on you; Islam is not relevant here. This man's weak mindedness or mental illness is the cause here.

My daughter is Muslim and is disgusted and, too, thinks he should be shot! She's 'peaceful', too.

Well this is where we all need to clear our minds and reassess what this and the other on-going acts represent.

If the perpetrator believes he is acting on behalf of a cause, in this case Islam. And many other thousands of people believe that also to be true. What authority do we or others with different views have to deny their belief?

It's not the odd nutter anymore. It is a huge global movement. Are they all misguided in their interpretation or are they the enlightened ones? Is this the true interpretation of their faith?

I no longer feel comfortable excusing these acts as those of lone nutters, rather I believe they are redefining Islam and unless the moderate majority take back their faith they will eventually find themselves in the minority.

The fact the guy is a muslim, asking for ISIS flags .....makes it pretty much relevant to that cult.

And for how long can they be 'defended' with the 'mental illness' or 'acting alone' tag for committing these acts in Islam's name? It is such defending that helps their cause no end ..... well done.

Might as well answer for both points.

Brainwashing is, indeed, relevant in this case. Do you wonder why so many people are hypnotised in magic tricks? Do you wonder why so many people follow and few are leaders? Something in the psyche of most people can be used to another's advantage. It's no different to agreeing with Farage or Cameron on 'issues'.

These people can be convinced that cheese is the scourge of the universe and to take arms up against anyone who munches it! If you do not question, there's something wrong with your mental make up. Every sane person questions SOMETHING about a message or something about something.

It's what stops most of us from killing each other daily.

This is my opinion.

It's not :-(

The way it suddenly went off I can only assume it wasn't a planned operation and that he must have done something to trigger the action. There was a LOT of gunfire. I'd be surprised if there weren't innocent lives lost.
