House hunting in Manchester and around..

If you own property in Droylsden try and hang on to it for another couple of years when it will steadily increase in value. There's a lot going on in and around this area at the moment, not to mention one of the biggest regeneration contracts in the NorthWest a mile up the road. Droylsden imo will peak in 4 or 5 yrs, That's when I will move on with a nice little profit hopefully.

For £200k you can do well in Audenshaw I think. Also the heatons. Dare I say Stretford but around the Longford park area so near to chorlton. Again Whalley range but somewhere off brantingham road again near to chorlton.

Parts of ashton, stalybridge, duckinfield etc have nice new estates with big house for that price.

Audenshaw does have some nice bits but it's too near to Droylsden for me. I'm close to cracking up from living here for the past 5 years and need a change! Will definitely have a look at the Heatons, thanks for that.

We've paid off the mortgage here so should have a pretty good deposit which means LTV will give us a decent mortgage rate. Maybe we'll have to think about spending a bit more to get the right place.

If you can afford to buy its not cheaper to rent?
My family did that and we're now better off than we used to be.

Explain please. If you rent for 25 years you have nothing of value. If you pay a mortgage for 25 years you own a house.
It depends.

Nobody really rents one place for 25 years. The flexibility of rent means you can move whenever you like.

There's some nice houses around lumb lane towards ashton. Daisy nook. Woodhouses etc are nice around there as well.

this list is endless...Chorlton; Didsbury; The Heatons are all good. It depends how far out you would go. Places like Marple bridge; Bollington; Bramhalll; Poynton etc are good.

£200k doesn't stretch much beyond a 3 bedroom terrace in most of these places.

You need to specify your requirements in more detail

Thanks, so far from what I've looked at Bramhall and Chorlton are areas I liked the look of. Like you say we won't get much for our budget really. We'd be happy with 2 or 3 bedrooms as long as the area is ok. All hubby cares about is being in a cabled area for Virgin and my main request is not having scrotes hanging around behind my garden like we get now!

Never really seen the attraction of Chorlton. And I lived there for years. It's a slight improvement on Stretford but there's still plenty of knobheads knocking about. For the prices you're paying it should be more like fucking Kensington.

Don't get me wrong, I quite like it round there but the house prices have just always been way above what they should be for the area in my opinion.

Where abouts in droylsden are you now. There is a new estate I like in audenshaw up with Morris homes at the minute which isn't near droylsden. Also some 4 bed houses going up with élan I think for exactly 200k. Nice little cul de sac with maybe 20 house on.

If you like moving about, have you considered a caravan?

Depends. I'm from chorlton so its home for me (don't live there now - priced out). But I did live in the ville so again that's a little different. Plenty of knobs everywhere. If you know most of them though its alright!
