Houssem Aouar

Buying Aouar and binning Gundogan would be big improvement indeed. But cant see him binned, Aouar is signed as addition clearly rather than as replacement.

RMC Is pretty reliable source. Considering the price of at least €50m that means they will probably sell at €65m-€70m.

I don't think Pep would get rid of Gundogan as such, but I can see him leaving of his own accord. He talked about playing in Italy or Spain, and about the adventure of moving to a new country as one of the reasons he came here.

He's 29, has had 4 years here and 8 trophies...might be a good time for him to move if he wants a stint at Juventus or Milan.

Silva got the game time though. Foden still has Mahrez, Bernardo and Sterling ahead of him for the RW role.

If we sign Aouar, someone has to leave either in CM or RW if we don't want Foden's game time impacted.

We signed Dave at the age of 24 when we had a mid table team, we have a team of champions and he is 19 (apples and oranges).
What I want to see is him getting 25 to 35 starts next year and I don't see that as a problem with Dave gone and Aouar signed, you also don't know what happens with injuries.

He is a CM/CAM. Don‘t know why people claim that he is similar to Gundogan. He is better in a 1on1, plays with flair and is more a Iniesta type of player. I just wonder how much he gets from Foden‘s gametime. And to be honest it‘s better to switch Bernardo to the middle and go for a LW.
I've watched a fair share of Lyon games and think Aouar is much closer to Xavi/Modric/Gundogan than Iniesta - his best trait is controlling the game from deep areas, linking attack and defence. Aouar isn't a 10 and wouldn't be a straight competitor to Foden

In any case if there is ONE player to sign from Lyon It's not Houssem Aouar but Rayan Cherki.
There was that rumor about us biding 40M for Mbappe the year before he broke out, might wanna try to do something similar here.

I think Aouar can to both tbh and I think that versatility can be used for players to dove tail when attacking. On our right side we have the winger (Mahrez/Bernardo), the #8 (Kev) and RB (Walker/Cancelo) holding. When the winger gets the ball, Kev can make a move to the byline to cross. The winger can invert and shoot or cross. If the RB goes forward, Kev usually drops back to hold. So usually you have 2 of the 3 attacking and 1 holding.

I think Aouar is better then Gundo at creativity in attack where Gundo is a deep lying playmaker. So on the left I'd say Aouar could do the same where if he's playing with Sterling (maybe even Foden) as the winger and Mendy at LB. Aouar and the winger could attack together while Mendy can hold or if Mendy goes forward Aouar can stay back to hold.

I wonder if gundogan might be sold on this summer or next? I know he signed a longer term deal but the squad needs a refresh and bringing in auoar who will be looking to play brings gundogans game time down further?
Aouar plays a bit similar to Gundogan before Gundogan got his injury, so it makes sense. I could Gundogan being borderline worldclass in Serie A or Spain

It it means foden doesn’t play or another player ahead of him, I don’t see the point. I don’t really know what more he could do to get proper first team minutes.

Posters will say foden will get plenty of minutes and needs a challenge. He barely played in the league and should be playing regularly in the league next season. Would be a complete failure on our side.

We sign too many players at times and make the path impossible for young players
