Houssem Aouar

I agree completely mate, just trying to put myself in Peps shoes and I don't think we will see Foden very often. I would rather we have a solid midfield of Rodri, KDB and Aouar. The three ahead can be any combination of Torres, Sterling, Jesus, Aguero, Bernardo and so forth.

if we don’t see foden very often then we will have wasted one of the best young players in Europe. We would be solid with foden in midfield.

im not aiming this at you, but there’s so many lame excuses as to why we shouldn’t play foden.
‘Taking too many risks’ - he’s an attacking midfielder who’s main asset is creating chances and scoring goals, of course he might give the ball away.... unless you want a team full of sideways passers

I just don’t get it

Foden will be in the front 3 for a few years, just like Iniesta was played on the LW until he was 23, and where Silva played at Valencia.

He is so good he will force himself into the team no matter what position it is.

Gundogan has been the one stepping in for Dave because he dictates games. Plays passes through the lines, players make their runs when he's on the ball, he's there to intercept the ball as other around him press. He sees the bigger picture of the game... All things Dave was in the team to do... These are things that Foden doesnt really do(not saying he can't). Foden is direct, he wants to press he wants to get in the box asap, he wants to carry the ball rather than wait for a fullback to overlap him, he's looking at fastest way we could score rather than thinking for example- if I play some triangles with Sterling and Cancelo then a quick switch should find Kev and Mahrez with room to get in behind as the opponents are crowding the ball side. There's a reason he's been on the wing, its because he's more suited to it at this stage of his career, he'd be more suited to Kevs role further down the line anyway imo.

Agree with this, Pep doesn't seem to trust him enough to control a game just yet and it was the same with Iniesta for so long. IIRC, Iniesta even played in the top 3 for Spain quite a lot.

Well the only thing i saw him do well in that game was throw himself to the ground, 6 times in the first 36 minutes, every time i watch him he seems more like Nasri, he offers us nothing more than we have, and would be a pointless signing

To be fair, the reason he was on the deck because he was too fast for our players and they couldn’t get the ball off him, so they constantly brought him down. It was the same when we played them before. Quite sure if you asked de Bruyne whether we should buy him, it would be a resounding yes.

I agree mate, I meant we won't see Foden at CM not that we won't see him in the team.

I think they are a bit lame, I get what Pep is thinking but look at the Lyon game, we hardly needed anymore 5yrd passes in that game. We needed Foden or Bernardo to pick the ball up and run with it.

yeah its not like he was diving, he was too quick for our midfield at the time and they were having to foul him!

He was too fast for Gundogan which means nothing and spent his time on the deck because he could not see a pass so took the easy option, I am sure that if you offered KDB a quick box to box or Auoar he would pick the quick one, as that would see an end to him doing all the donkey work

One of the 6 fouls was a blatant dive, and all were in the Lyon half straight after a change over, Aouar was not even close to being the best Lyon player he was just a cog in the wheel
