How do I ethically buy a pedigree dog?

I hate dogs, cats, pets you name it can't see the point of not being able to do what you want because of the pet being left at home. Added to that the food you have to buy, the walks, vets etc etc. I am probably missing the point and understand why people want a pet but not for me.

They are hard work mate, dont underestimate it. Very rewarding and great company, and if you get it right they are lovely company for their life. But it is really hard work. You get out what you put in, but be prepared for 24/7 effort for a year

Me, the kids and the Mrs all want a dog to add to our two cats and have decided on a golden Labrador, however, we don't have a clue were to buy one. I've heard lots of reports of unethical sellers who 'farm' these dogs and knock them out for a profit. I want to buy a healthy, happy, loved puppy from a reputable source and be confident knowing that I've purchased from someone who's first priority was the dog they're selling to me.

Can anyone recommend a reputable source?

Mine had a nun the other day, walking along the river minding her own business when suddenly Chester got her, poor woman....she came out of it unscathed but covered in dirty paw marks.

Get a rescue dog, you’ll be doing something good and there’s nothing you will gain from getting a pedigree dog than you would get from getting a rescue dog instead. Might take a bit of work to start with depending on the dogs background but it’ll be worth it when they settle

My wife was on about getting a puppy when covid started and our overseas travel was halted.
I just said to her.. do you really want to spend the next 15 years picking up dog turds everyday ?
She never mentioned it since.

Maybe she envisaged me doing the walking and picking up of shit. :)
