How do we resolve the Brexit mess?

I started this thread specifically for those who supported Brexit and argued it’s merits, to give us an update on how they were feeling about how it’s turned out and how it will go further down the line. Everyone knows what I think, I stated that clearly, but I am always genuinely interested in how others see it. I certainly don’t agree with views being suppressed and would be grateful if someone could show me examples. Stand your ground, make your case, Halfmist talked about being gagged. How are you gagged? Does that mean challenged? Gagged means shut up, did you try to post something that was deleted by mods?

For me, the basic truth is it ain’t working, that it could never work. That it would cripple us economically, that it would lead to labour shortages, because all the jobs they were stealing, according to those who supported it, and didn’t fill, means so many sectors are fucked. We have come out of the biggest economic market on the planet. We had that arse of a woman heralding the deal with Japan, closer observation of its detail revealed it was 0.007% of our trade within the EU.
The US will not be an option either whilst the Good Friday Agreement is under threat. The irony is, those most opposed to it Protocols are hard line Uber British unionists, who voted to Leave. Next year we will be charged to visit Europe, that’s unbelievable. That great deal that Johnson hailed, written by him and backed by all of the Toffs in his cabinet, who are affected not one bit by its financial aftermath. We need to be honest. And for me you never listen to Tories trying to con us it’s all tickety boo. So much, that we are about to break International Law, to change this greatest deal. You look at the facts and if you do that, you cannot come to any conclusion other than it isn’t working. If you do , you are letting your right wing views obscure reality.

Now, again, if any Brexiteers want to challenge the above, let’s here it and more importantly, show us the trade figures, the labour market stats, that show sectors aren’t facing shortages due to so many leaving. I’m all ears and one last thing, swearing to emphasise a feeling, is ok. There are no bad words, they are words, our language is our language. I know of no other set of letters that describe crooks, liars, law breaking, covid partying, economically dyslexic, devoid of empathy to our most vulnerable, liars, did I say liars, as Cunts. If anybody has a better word, to illustrate clearly to the reader, the depth of my contempt, that vividly conveys the feeling I have for them, I am all ears. For me everyday should be a school day. Good luck.

Pretty much yes, we are where we are and we have to hope somebody. anyone with a clue can sort the mess out.

At the moment the Tory answer is bicycle theory, keep fucking peddling because if you stop peddling you fall off and the whole thing goes to pot. Perhaps they need to stop peddling.

The voting at the second reading of the Northern Ireland protocol bill and the liar-in-chief's pronouncements suggest there's not much chance of that. Can't see any prospect of even starting to honestly discuss the situation let alone starting to fix the shitshow before the next GE is done and dusted.

The best that we can hope for in the short term is that the rump of sane people in the Tory party driven either by self-interest or conscience can come up with some tactics that limit further damage/stop us digging an even bigger hole. Or even that their party machinations just mean paralysis, which staggeringly might be better then the incumbents actually doing something. I also assume some are of the view they are doomed in 2024 but if they let things slide and leave the Labour party holding the defecating baby for the next term in office they can be back in power 5 years after that.

Which is why whoever gets in next time has to do something around electoral reform. To me this government's behaviour is borderline treasonable and I have never thought that about any government of any colour in my lifetime. The only reparation/fitting consequence is that a fairer system of representation is implemented so that a party as unrepresentative and unfit for office as the current Tory party will find it almost impossible to hold a position of unfettered power again. That said, given the forces they have at their disposal I am not holding my breath.

I am afraid it doesn’t quite work like that.. “say as little or as much as you want mate.”
It’s little wonder a lot of posters don’t bother posting on the politics sites when you get a message “insufficient privileges to post here” if you say anything that those in charge don’t agree with.
Democracy at its very best.
You appear to have the privilege to post currently. What is it you would like to tell us about how Brexit is working, or not?

Brilliant post fella.

I would have thought it’s quite obvious.
If you write something that doesn’t sit well with the left on the politics threads you risk being gagged on that thread or even worse banned, by those who are admin.
Others can swear, insult or abuse at anyone they don’t agree with and no action is taken against them, which is clearly against the rules of the forum , if you care to read them.
It’s a case of double standards.
Little wonder many stay well clear and leave certain posters to just get on with it.
I have never reported anyone, people should have their say and then I can learn from it. I can get abusive occasionally, when i have been on the piss and I have a number of bans for that lol

I want to hear from people on the right, an echo chamber is no fun.

Thing is Magic even as a Brexit poster it is impossible to deny facts. There is also the problem that immigration slowing and many returning home has helped fuel wage inflation as workers become a scarce resource. That is not a bad thing from a left wing viewpoint but it will mean further wage inflation is inevitable and strike action will become more widespread. Again though I emphasise this is not the fault of Brexit, it is the fault of those enacting Brexit for all the reasons you state and more.

For the record I am not and never have been a Unionist, The Scots should have the right to independence just as the Welsh should and I have always thought a United Ireland was the best way forward.

My choice of sweary word is ****, its the perfect word to describe the Tories.

That is the Bicycle effect, the Tories and Johnson especially exist to be in power, so they have to keep pedalling Brexit in order to try and keep themselves in power because their is a hardcore of the pro Brexit vote that will support them.

The pedalling also guarantees them the support of the RW media

Indoctrination. Read enough shit on social media and it rubs off on the mentally weak.

You've got to wonder why certain people join a City board and post 80% of your posts in the politics forum. Whether that be on a half misty day or your bike is made out of steel.

The misty one doesn’t even care about politics.
I find your post very amusing, honestly, it made me chuckle.
Funny you mention indoctrination.
I thought it referred to those who all strictly had the same views, no deviations, no dissent from the ranks and they all sing from the same hymn sheet about long standing views.
Does it sound familiar to some threads on the politics sub forum
I like the misty one, it sounds quite affectionate.
I didn't know you cared
