How do we resolve the Brexit mess?

I understand the arguments for / against but the situation isn't going to change is it?
It might though. If enough of us keep the issue alive, and keep going on about it - farage is proof of that! It's also a fact that a second referendum would result in a clear remain (rejoin) majority due to enough old right wing people having died since 2016 to wipe out that tiny majority for leave.

Painful to watch. As heartening as the efforts of kind individuals are, it’s hard not to feel anything but complete contempt for the politicians and system that have created this mess.

Terrible to see what's happened to Grimsby because of brexit. I was last there about 14 years ago and it was such a lovely vibrant up and coming place back then. Pretty soon the people of Grimsby will realise their EU friends across the sea are enjoying growth, increasing standards of living and reasonably priced / plentiful energy - then they will realise what brexit has done. Sadly too late.

Just a gentle reminder that the party that created this mess tried to cut the income tax of the very rich and gave Bankers unlimited bonuses.

Lia Nicci’s domain. Not surprising really, big Johnson lover. Awful woman.

Indeed, though the Conservatives were not alone in creating this mess even if they should shoulder the vast, vast weight of responsibility. It is a horrible reality, however, that many of those responsible now live in a vacuum where there is neither responsibility nor accountability.

But remember if there were 200 users of that foodbank then 140 voted to leave and they over turned an @2k Labour majority to a 10k Tory one in 2019 - there comes a point where you have to own your mistakes.

Grimsby has always been a shithole, it's well named.

True, and when you listen to some of those involved in the Grimsby fishing industry, they know they made a mistake. The point has been reached, however, where hearing people in a food bank admit they were wrong is of little succour to anyone.

Those figures are from 2019, when we were still in the EU.

We sort of left in 2020, and I think you'll find those reports aren't relevant since those halcyon days of frictionless cross border trade.

Have a look at the export figures today, and ask yourself why import controls are still not being imposed?

Maybe it's because the shortages would be so extreme the narrative of brexit and 'bringing back control' would be exposed for the bullshit it always was, and ask anyone involved in sending goods from the UK into the EU how they are 'prospering mightlily' since we left the EU?

Read the article and its links, it deals with the hear and now. The past can go back to 1973, when we cut out ship building capacity by 63% to allow orders to then be placed with Greek and Italian ship yards. History is not selective, or trendy in its outcomes.
