How do we resolve the Brexit mess?

Played out on the news this morning (interview with the Brexit backing Next boss calling for more overseas workers):

Ha ha ha - I remember Lord Wolfson extolling the virtues of Brexit before and after the referendum. You know what? To join in the general death cult feeling around Brexit and as sorry I would be for those who lose their jobs I'd be happy to see Next go under and take this **** with it - as the water gets neck deep for him I'd happily apply downward pressure and hold him under until resistance ceases.

His sanctimonious utterances about "economically productive migration" is exactly at the root of the fire and flames people like him fanned. Economically productive migrants were those Polish plumbers, those French lorry drivers and Italian waitresses that people like him told the ignorant were here undercutting them and depressing their wages (whilst at the same time firms like his were doing it ) so if I can for once in my life echo and paraphrase Boris Johnson and say Fuck business and fuck him and his two faced like.

The price of a meal at the UK’s best restaurants has more than doubled since Brexit from £100 a head to more than £200, according to two new guide books.

Peter Harden, the editor of his eponymous restaurant guides, said: “We’ve gone very quickly from a time five years ago when charging over £100 a head was the outlier, to now, when for the very top restaurants £200 pounds a head is becoming the norm.”

For the first time Harden London Restaurant Guide has raised its top price threshold to £130 a head to reflect record menu price rises. The 2023 edition includes 15 restaurants in the capital with a guide price of more than £200 a head, compared with six in that bracket this year.

Nip into the HoC - if you are an MP you can get a gourmet 3 course meal made with the best of ingredients for about a tenner. Its what they would want for themselves

Not just top restaurants, pub grub is expensive now, a meal for £8/10 a few years ago now £15! Looking at family meal with a few drinks £60-80, before about £40. It’s just not value for money, I expect after the Xmas period lots of places to close.

And I get it, their prices have rocketed but unfortunately my disposable income has gone down, like many others, unless something rapidly changes we are not heading for a recession I think a depression. I just wonder will prices ever come down, they just have to no can afford stuff.

Yeah, it’s looking bleak for most, especially when the 6 months help ends.

Business rates aren’t capped by Ofgen so most businesses will struggle to survive. Then what happens?

In the pub last night and I don’t know if he was joking but the lad in charge said his gas bill is going to be £250k plus leccy!

£50 a pint soon then!

I had to go to hospital recently and I thought I would be clever: to avoid a parking charge in the hospital carpark I put my car in the pub opposite - but it said 'for patrons' only.

So I went in and bought a pint of Coors FOR £4.50!

I could not believe it.
