How do we resolve the Brexit mess?

Is he saying we need to be back in certain elements of the EU?

effectively so - he is peddling his new post truth, truth. Its like negotiating the WA was nothing to do with him but it has been done so badly he has to expose it.

Its like "it was never about economic gains " - Really? It was matey !!
There have been no upsides - well we did warn you
There have been no downsides - eh? WTF you on about?

Its hard to understand the mentality of any of them - JRM and Mr Spock (Redwood ) argue on twitter one minute Brexit is the best thing since sliced bread then they both complain about where its no good - but different things because to each of the Brexit meant something different - not that they will accept that.

Did you see that yesterday from Andrew Neil? Arguing the problems the Govt have with Brexit and other things is The Left Blob? Fucking mental - you are either with them 100% or you are an enemy to be dealt with - very very dark direction this country is heading

Brexit is my favourite reason for every member of the news media to be strung up. (Soz if it offends, my wife says its a bit strong).

~On a more serious note I have a very strong feeling that oue media blackout on the shitshow of Brexit is down to some govn edict to the media about maintaining public moral, belief, togetherness.. like a national; emergency. Its just very strange that across the news outlets there is hardly any bluster.

I read yank or australian news and they're full of how we shot ourselves in the foot. All very strange.
Not strange really when you have a media dominated by Mail/Express/Sun/Telegraph and the BBC have Tory appointees in many Senior editorial positions. The Guardian/LBC/C4 News try and make up for it but the balance is skewed heavily.

This quote particularly struck me;

But it is not Starmer Truss has to worry about. It is what is best described as the Left Blob, which is now omnipresent in British public life, dominant in the citadels of power, including most of the media (above all the broadcasters), the Civil Service, the NHS, the legal system (including the judiciary), education (especially the universities), social media, most public bodies and private charities. It’s even wheedling its way into boardrooms.

That reminds me so much of George Orwell's 1984. It is a classic 'Untruth' “There was truth and there was untruth, and if you clung to the truth even against the whole world, you were not mad.”

What we are seeing is a political party supported by a media that are more than happy to rewrite history to their advantage “Who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past.” Orwell saw it all.

Another charlatan with sinister overtones.

You don't need to read 29 pages.

"It no longer seems strange for ministers to lecture us about healthy eating and exercise, just as Winston Smith was hectored through his telescreen every morning."

"Any government that actually wishes to begin the task of solving Britain’s problems ... must change the climate of opinion... The public must come to feel that we have taken a wrong path and to react against it." But not Brexit, though he was a fan of the Single Market when he was paid to champion Scotch Whiskey. He means more capitalism, though he rails against the house price inflation down to the large housing development companies.

Bizarrely, he wants a smaller state, but rather than admit the last 12 years have been an utter failure, and divisive, his cure "will be turbulent and disruptive. But it is necessary. Everyone will need to play their part. There is genuinely no alternative if we wish to heal the divisions" (so turbulence and disruption to heal divisions).

And a touch of madness: "The current evidence does not support the assertion that we are in a climate 'emergency'" "Instead of focusing on technological solutions that enable us to master our environment ... we have focused on managing demand so we can use medieval technology like wind power."

And in the end, he thinks a Tory government can do it. Do what? "Yet, here we are, with tax and spending comprising a higher share of GDP now, under a Conservative government, than under a Labour administration a quarter of a century ago". Explicitly, he wants to "reduce the size of the state at least to the size of the Tony Blair years"!

Well he was once a supporter of the EU and Single Market.

Frost left HM Diplomatic Service in 2013 to become CEO of the Scotch Whisky Association, a trade association.[4] In 2015, in a hearing before the Scottish Parliament, he argued in favour of the UK's membership of the EU, noting that for a Briton on an average salary, the benefit of the UK being a member of the EU was around £1,500 a year.[6] Frost was admitted as a liveryman of the Distillers' Company[7] in 2016. It was in his capacity as CEO that he wrote an article before the Brexit referendum[8] for Portland Communications, in which he supported the case for remaining in the EU's Single Market and said that leaving it would be "fraught with economic risk".

Sounds like he has lost the plot completely in the paper you quote.

I used to like AN but he’s now a busted flush blabbering to save his own career. What that has confirmed to me is that we are now in a near fascist mindset where the politicians, and those that comment on it, are now getting paranoid with everything around them. They’ve forced themselves into a position where it is their way only and anybody against is part of the Left Blob, as he puts it.

Absolutely nobody would describe Starmer as ‘Left’, he is a Centrist by nature, and to talk about him as such just shows how far right these people have gone. They can no longer see the wood for the trees, and what is more scary is that we have at least a couple of more years of these screwing up the country, all aided by those who want to take more for themselves and give very little back.
