How do we resolve the Brexit mess?

They never apologise simply because they don’t believe that whatever they have done is wrong and needs apologising for.
If brexit fails or truss’s lunatic notions go tits up, it’s everyone else’s fault and, in fact, we should be apologising to them for not recognising their genius.
Anyone remember the sitcom Game on? They’ve got a lot to answer for, not that they will…

"Never explain. Never apologise. Never look back. Game on."

I think that anyone with a brain has come to realise that to make Brexit work it’s got be made to look like being a member. A customs arrangement that looks very much like the customs union and market access that’s as close as possible as being equivalent to being a single market member. Also immigration arrangements that are effectively freedom of movement. Might as well harmonise standards as well we’re at it. Then in a few years we can rejoin once enough people realise that we’re rule takers rather than rule makers.
I am in complete sympathy with your sentiments but really can't agree that we'll be welcomed back into the EU with a relatively smooth transition.

How many years did it take many UK governments to negotiate concessions, opt outs and the like. Most Europeans were envious of this and are probably pissing themselves that all the concessions and greater accountability we strive for, we've thrown away.

It really is an act of criminal irresponsibility, particularly to future generations. It has shown up the entire political class as the strawmen they are, and will accelerate the break up of the UK.

Brexit is the very public shame that literally no one dare speak off. Not a sensible grown up attitude which has bemused and alarmed the EU and the Americans.

There will be a rapprochment with the EU but not for at least the next 5 years, probably longer. We we go back to the negotiating table with our tail between our legs, we ain't getting any opt outs, we'll be a very junior partner, probably have to adopt the Euro and won't be regarded as trustworthy partners. Still we got all those oven ready trade deals, so all good?!?!

We are a fucking laughing stock.

Was having a chat with some of the crew from the running club after park run this morning.
We were talking about how none of us really use cash anymore apart from when we meet at a running track and they only take cash (£4 per session).

Given I purchase most of my things with my face/keychain passwords (and sometimes by clothes items via euros' on the 'intraweb' just how painful will it be to transfer to the Euro (genuine question)?

It was always going to be badly implemented. Even if there had been a cogent plan, it still would have been hugely fraught and complicated. And there was no cogent plan. So it was bound to be a complete disaster. No-one who voted Leave had a fucking cogent plan either btw.

This is what people voted for. Own your fucking decision. Take some fucking responsibility and stop blaming other cunts.

If I can take some responsibility for this fuckung abortion (which I do) then anyone for voted for it should do so to. The sooner we face up to this catastrophic error collectively, the better.

We’ve completely fucked up, which has been compounded by other factors (Covid, Ukraine, energy prices) so it’s even worse than most people, myself included, could have envisaged. And we don’t have the quality within the political class to rescue the situation.

An absolute clusterfuck.
did you vote for Brexit mate?
I clearly missed your mea culpa.

Everything is electronic so administratively, a lot of companies take payments in different currencies, there would be stable changeover, maybe!!

The tricky bit is Essex man or south east English woman (retired) getting frothy when the daily heil tells 'em them Brussels eurocrats are taking our Pound off us, the filthy foreign devils!

Dunno if a European Central Bank would effectively dictate our interest rates our spending policy...... but the "party of the Economy" ain't covering themselves in glory.

What I will say is that if you look at the Germans, the French or the Italians, do they look like they've lost sovereignty or are economically strangled by the EU?
