How do we resolve the Brexit mess?

Phil puts a interesting slant on Starmer thinking behind the Excess`s headline .

Special pleading to justify nonsense about "making Brexit work". Essentially, it's shit but let's pretend Leave voters think it could be less shit.

Was a good summary of where Labour are as a party and what hoops they are having to jump though to get the gig.

Thanks for posting.

Starmer wants to unify the country. Leave the Tories as a disunited rump. After that, anything is possible. The party is still left / socialist but realistic. We know Starmer isn't addressing the party but the electorate. On the doorstep I meet those who were Corbyn fans, and don't like Starmer, but it's a rarity compared to those who wouldn't vote for Corbyn in 2019 (for whatever reason).

Even so, I'm not using "Labour will make Brexit work" as a selling point.

Mmmmm - hormone injected beef

Hahaha
First the bastard unelected bureaucrats tried to stop us putting shit in the rivers, but we showed ‘em didn‘t we!?
And they wanted to order us not to eat harmful substances in our food, but we showed ‘em didn’t we?!
We are back in total control aren’t we!?
Aren’t we?

all this arises in part from signing up with the Asian Pacific deal to be part of a bloc but have no say in any of its rule making lol

Listening to Campbell the other day and he said Starmer has operated/ is operating a 3 part programme.
1. Get the party back to the centre and rid it of any perceived ultra-left tendencies (such as Corbyn).
2. Highlight the ineptitude of current government.
3. With the above two now nearing completion, he needs to go to the country with clear policies on how Labour will deliver and get the country off its knees.

The analogy that of Starmer carrying a very expensive vase across an ice rink is a good one. Hence the somewhat anodyne “we’ll make Brexit work “. Agree it’s hardly a dynamic message but I understand the reason behind it.
