As I have mentioned before, low unemployment means higher inflation. Just a fact under capitalism. That is why we have been importing labour since the 1950s because keeping inflation low is seen as more important than full employment.
It is hard to argue against this because high inflation is hardly ever matched by wage growth and the poorest with the least leverage suffer most. Therefore high inflation is very bad news for the poor. (It's bad news for almost everyone, but the poor have the least protection.)
Where I go against the Tory/Daily Mail view is that if you accept that a degree of unemployment is necessary to make capitalism work properly, then you need to treat the unemployed decently and not make out they are idle scum. It is not, primarily, a situation of their making. If you want a society where everyone works you need to change to a socialist model and accept the consequences of that, which include economic inefficiency and over-manning.
