How do we resolve the Brexit mess?

The current cabinet see it as a win.

All those pesky safety and employment contract rules can now be abolished so Rees Smug can live out his real life Dickensian wank fantasies.

I have little doubt that the Tories will be ousted at the next election (people aren't stupid enough to re-elect them, are they?) But the damage done in the meantime will be huge and long lasting.

I wouldnt hold your breath.

If the DUP don't agree then don't we go back to another election for Stormont? What do they do when they get even less support?
Remains to be seen. If the incoming Minister to NI is to be believed, there’ll be a Christmas election.
Just matter of factly stated that’s what is legislated for. Not much to say about actually getting the Assembly working.
I mean what use is an election regardless of who gains or loses if the result is still an Assembly that won’t sit.

Talk about a Tory answer to a Tory and Unionist party problem. Kick it down the road.

Thought we held all the bargaining chips?
I’m sure it’s been mentioned once or twice that they need us more than we need them.
West didsblue

So did I. I thought the enormous potion of chips was the accompaniment to the oven ready Brexit deal dish the fat lying oaf offered up late in 2020.

The thing I can understand is why are Tory MPs constituents not outside their doors with flaming torches and pitchforks.
We’ve had a flurry of interest from the BBC since Leigh inexplicably went to Tory at the last election. Most recently the day after Truss became PM. They interviewed one constituent, both her and her partner on benefits.
“How much money do you have left at the end of the week?”
“Nothing. We borrow off family and friends to make ends meet and then, when we get our money, we have to pay them back”
“You voted Tory in 2019?”
“Yes”
“Would you vote for Liz Truss?”
“Yes”

That would be Mr and Mrs Gammon from Gammonville.

My heart sinks when I read that. What do you put it down to?

And that’s why I sometimes think what’s the fucking point when idiots like that exist and perpetuate their own and others misery!

However - this winter friends and family may have no spare cash to loan to them - what do they do then?

I know what I would put it down to.

A word rhyming with brick.
Maybe but even dumb animals react when they are harmed. In this country it seems like a selection of the electorate can absorb all the hurt and pain and when asked if they would like some more, say yes please. Thank you very much. Doffs cap and bows/curtsies.

People on social media who reply to MEN stuff seem to blame Labour for how little investment there has been in the city.

It’s hard to invest when they receive no money and can’t apply for EU grants anymore, yet somehow the penny hasn’t dropped for them.

Nobody has, save some Conservative commentators who have been signalling to the Tories of the danger of a coalition winning and legislating electoral reform. None of the parties have admitted there is a non-aggression pact let alone what might/might not have been agreed regarding PR etc.
Don't forget there was a referendum on PR in 2011 to appease the Libs in the Cameron Clegg coalition.

They (the Tories) deliberately avoided supporting it and planted confusion amongst the masses. Remember the "some votes will be counted twice" stories?

Was relatively simple alternative vote option where you voted 1, 2, 3 ranking. If your 1 didn't win, your vote was added to your 2 choice etc. until a clear winner.
Result was 68/32 rejection.
We still have FPTP and you can win with 35-40%.

It was a shit version of AV to be fair. It was never going to win.

Considerable water has passed under the bridge since then, and that’s why I think the Liberal Democrats would make legislated reform a condition of their forming a coalition.

I would hazard a guess that people like you've described, are of a certain age and get all their political views from the likes of the sun.

What do expect when the average reading age in the UK is now 9 years of age after 12 years of tory education policies
Yet the highest it has ever been…
