How do we resolve the Brexit mess?

Second homes should be illegal as well although there would always be a loophole.

Very good argument due to the wider negative consequences it has on communities on the coast or in national parks

Would make sense for there to be a licensing scheme on Air B&B type holiday lets and there's less chance homes will be left empty for a large part of the year.

For people wealthy enough to own a second home for holiday purposes, don't see why you can't just use short term lets, holiday parks or caravans instead.

Because that way the wealthy can't own the second home and operate it as a holiday let so it pays for itself and they get free holidays - they DON'T WANT to give any money to anyone else

Exactly my point. Thank you.

I have no issues with the free market in things that are not food, shelter, national resources and public transport.

Pre covid I visited China.
You could buy a meal with a beer for about £4 back then.
How much does a similar meal cost now?
About £4:50.
Taxi fares have gone up in some places too. From minimum fare 60p to 80p.
It's still between 10 and 30p on the bus though!

Where would the Tories house their Russian mates?

Just shows the devastating effects of brexit can even be felt in Asia.

Just an example of how the basics of life are little affected by inflation
here.
Since brexit, life in England has become a lot more expensive imo.
That's obvious but it's less obvious what is caused by Brexit. Transport costs are certainly higher as the loss of EU drivers has increased wages, feeding into bus drivers' wages (you're more likely to have lost a bus service than see fares rise) and other delivery cost. Eating out is certainly a lot more expensive because of Brexit, and food price inflation is certainly part Brexit-related.

but they are offering 6 month visas for people to come and work on half pay so that will soon sort it out

”Government seek to relax rules for nice people who are well mannered and look more British than that other lot”?

What a shitshow. A true barista might take 12 months to train but there are limited jobs. A coffee chain barista is fortunate to get more than a few weeks training with a portion of the training provided in their own time.
Same timescale for a waiter, don’t know about au pair but this is probably a posh persons cleaner and dogsbody.
As the clamour to increase the number of vocational job relaxations increases the nonsense that started it will continue to unravel.

Surprisingly quiet these days - suppose when you are wrong on just about everything its best to shut the fuck up
