How do we resolve the Brexit mess?

Certainly cars - probably everything gat isn't plastic tat to be honest.
So if we impose tariffs as you suggest, remind us where everyday goods are going to be sourced. Unfortunately we have a consumer, where for various reasons, price is the only thing that matters and that has lead us to where we are now. And remember, tariffs can work both ways, and similar to the EU, we need them more than they need us.

China is a country which has progressed steadily over the years to become a very important player on the world stage.
Much like CITY who have made steady progress over the last 15 years or so to become an important club in the football world.
Both entities have risen above the misinformation and lies to get to their current status.
Both ,also, have had medium - long term strategies in place to achieve their aims.

Both entities rely on a brutal dictatorship to remain in power and exploit slave labour ?

[ducks for cover; the realities of UAE government are generally not welcome on here]

And the U.S.?
Have they not been profiting from the alleged 'slave labour' in the far east thus adding to the burden being shouldered by those people?

Whats this Scientists for EU nonsense? Still wailing about Brexit I see...

Not sure of you are being serious / I am being Clarkied....

It could be that scientific research and innovation in this country has been badly damaged by leaving the EU. When in the EU, we received 20% of the total EU grants available in these areas.

Frosty the Showman just confirming he's a know nowt wanker

His performance today just highlights why we are in the shit. He sits there smirking when the Labour MP, who was once living on the streets is talking about the housing shortage. He stated that everyone from the very poor to the very rich should get richer with no suggestion that it should be a bottom up process. He also suggests that it would be good if Badenough(sic) regurgitates Truss's policies if she get in next time. All this from the bloke who negotiated Brexit but stated in 2015 that the average worker was £1500 per year better off in the EU, and that leaving was fraught with economic risk. And still these individuals are asked to come on these programmes without being reminded of their views back then.

Brexit has become a sort of religion and its devotees cannot be swayed from their irrational faith.

Whether to be in the EU or not should be a pragmatic decision. Does it make us richer, safer, stronger, or not? It should not be about political dogma, or, worse still, flag-waving.

With the state of our politics that's not possible and would be pointless in any case.
I tend to agree. No chance of a rebate, maybe have to join the Euro, true or not, I don't think it's worth the grief. Making the most of where we are should be the priority. Now if Labour get in again in 2029 and the debate has begun, it could be argued it's a different generation that will be voting but who knows?

Think it was a scheduled banter post.
Obviously I'm massively taking the piss out of people still stuck in the loop and hudled together around the flapping stable door long after the horse has departed.
On a more serious note, I am sticking to the thread title instead of just having a monk-on about something that is now getting on for a decade old. At this point if I had a friend that was struggling mentally to get past a trauma that occured that long ago, I would signpost them to support or professional help.
As it is, I think our current government (and even the last one) are starting to rebuild the burned bridges with Europe and we are already on the journey back towards a closer and healthier relationship.
