How Do We Stop Turning into That Which We hate ?

We ARE different though. We are Manchester city fans, always have been, always will be.
Wining trophies is totally immaterial to that.
We've proved it over and over again.

To the op, we are what we are and will remain so.

Bang on, top post :)

Does anyone really think we will ever be as big the rags or Assenal? Not a chance in hell. I honestly think we won't be worldly liked and respected until Manure place fourth behind Spurs on Newcastle. It will take the rags disappearing and us being on top for consecutive years. And even then we will still most likely be blamed for buying football. I'm okay with that. People don't have to get it. We're the true sign of struggle and work ethic, and being reward for it.

except that in the 50's city were the bigger club. look it up.

as with everything in life what goes around comes around.

I massively agree with him. I can't ever see us being as massive as either of those two massive clubs.

Seriously though I think there'll be enough of the old guard knocking around the Etihad and the aways for the considerable future. Inevitably new fans will replace old and but contrary to David Conns book, I don't think our ground is full of 40 odd year old blokes and hardly any young fans. I think we've got a decent number of the local younger generation coming to the games, ones who've grown up with us maybe not being crap (like us born in the 70's/80's) but definitely mediocre in comparison to the 'big clubs'.

It depends how you define young. I'm 32 and grew up in Middleton with not that many other Blues within my own generation. It was the same when I went to work alongside people of my own age. 3 or 4 U****d to the solitary Blue - although the Blue went more than the U****d fans combined!

I'd say we've lost an age group between about 26 and 34 where going to matches just hasn't happened. There's not that many my own age in 216.

Well said Bertie.

I wonder if we'll ever see him again. Sadly, I suspect not. Like Arthur Daley or Dixon of Dock Green was very much "of his time" as a character. He became obsolete on 13th May, never to return.

I can't say I won't miss him a little, if only to serve as a reminder just who the bitter and obsessed ones really are.
