How do you assess our transfer business?

For those thinking we should have bought a striker, who do you think we should look at to replace Aguero next summer, and do you think that player is available now and would be happy to rotate with Aguero and Jesus for a year.
Because to me the one happy to rotate a year with 2 other players and the one to replace Aguero are different players and we were never going to buy one this summer and another next summer.

No club in World football made a number of serious investments with the notable exception of Chelsea.

It’s surprising how there is a dearth of talent around for LB and CH so we are not alone there.

Difficult, in this light, to know how we have done. The truth is it will depend how we do over the season compared to other teams.

We have lost some hard to replace players and in the next window we will be after a striker, a Fernandinho replacement and a left back. Those three positions will not be cheap or easy to find either.

It was a window where clubs basically said we will hold what we have and see what the World looks like in June.

I think this is a great summary of where we are. I believe this is a season too far for Fernandinho and by Christmas we will regret not getting his replacement in.

The lack of an aggressive box to box CDM to play alongside Rodri I think will cost us more than not addressing the left back problem. See Arteta kept a copy of Pep’s shopping list !!

Just feels as if we are slipping further behind the pack and if De Bruyne gets injured for any length of time the wheels will fall off.

Its going to be a long long season and I think we are going to struggle for large parts of it.

But it would be brilliant to be proved wrong !!

I'd say 7/10 - partly because I bought into the hype of Messi, a LB and a striker so there ended up being something of an anti-climax feeling but in reality we brought in two good CBs and a winger with tonnes of potential.

I think Messi will sign a pre contract at Christmas that will give us a real lift but the hard work starts now because Pep needs to get more from this squad than he got in recent weeks and some of the issues re fatigue will not be easy to fix; was pleased to see Raz withdraw from the pointless England games yesterday and wish KDB would pull the plug on Belgium for a while.

Longer term I have a nagging doubt about the clubs willingness to spend the sums needed to replace Kun - if we can identify the right player we need to break the bank for a lethal striker - our major issues just now all stem from our inability to convert our chances.

5/10. Bought well defensively but still no LB. Torres looks like a smart purchase. Wish we'd got more for our outgoings. Hope Aguero and Jesus stay injury free.

If it wasn’t for covid I would see as a weak window. However If you apply some common sense buying players during these crazy times is insane. Non of us know what’s ahead.

This team are still capable of top 4

for me the club are winding peps contract down & when a new manager is here he will be given big funds to replace the likes of Aguero, fern, Silva etc No point giving pep this cash.

The club will replace Fernandinho, and Aguero next summer, and will whether it's Pep or anyone else with the same players. That was always the case, nothing to do with whether Pep extends or not.

3 players who improve our first 11 signed, in probably the most difficult market ever, and that’ll do me.
I suspect / hope that we’ll have another signing, or two, in the January window - once a few clubs understand how far they’re not going in Europe this year and when the reality of the dire financial consequence of the 2nd wave of covid hits home.

6/10 - as pissed off as I am about the transfer business as we are crying out for a LB, CM, CB & Striker - I'm also reasonable comfortable with what we ended up with and how much we spent. We don't know how much and impact the Pep decision has had on transfer dealings or even the COVID impact financially on the club. Yes we have one of the richest people on earth owning us but we can't use his money.

Also these guys are business men and I'm assuming profit/loss is very important around how they operate the club. We as fans want trophies and spend shitloads, they want to make money.

Gonna be an interesting season, lets get everyone fit and firing and see where we go
