Still alive here....
..did you get up the footballing ladder?

I'm asking because one or two 'downstairs' reckon they're pretty good.

As a kid playing school footy i played for the town team from 13 to 15. I was 'looked at' by a few scouts and had a trial at City aged 14. I did well but was told i needed to start growing and they'd look at me again in 6months. I never grew and that was the high point of my amateur career. (They took my mate on but a few months later he got an illness which left him in a wheelchair)

After that it was pub teams against blokes twice my size and age and i loved it right up until i was about 40. The high life finally caught up with me and i hung up me boots to concentrate on smoking.

You've basically described yourself as being about 3ft 1 and then called it a "high point".

Normally sub then, Rammy?

The high point of my football career was being picked second to last once at school .......looks up and smiles proudly....... thats it ask the 5 a-side lads.

At youth level i was 8 playing for an under 11's team with one other lad who went on to captain a side in the conference. I played a very good standard when i was in the Army and had a trial at a local semi pro team,i was asked to go back but was sent to northern ireland and that was that. A couple of the lads i trained with had been pro's or went on to be pro's,including one i'd sat in the kippax and watched in a city shirt!

I played for my local Cub Scouts until i was 9....had a trial for my then county of Surrey, never heard anything back about it as my parents decided we were moving to Northern Ireland.

Moved here, started playing Rugby (union)....and played it until age 17/18...

However, by then, there were much more important things such as Drinking and Smoking

Played for a few local teams and then when i got into secondary school then was first choice keeper for my year for 5 years straight and had Oldham City and Blackburn looking at me but never got near them.
