How important is the PL title actually?

you have to challenge for titles to win them
that being the case some you will win, some you won't
this being the first time we have challenged in 35 years I can live with the knowledge that we will almost certainly be challenging every season and we will win titles and trophies
some seasons we may not as nothing is guaranteed and it would be aboring sport if it were
in our first season back at the very top for a long time I can't be suicidal if we just miss out
but pray we don't

We were challenging last season and gave up the ghost with some insipid displays away from home. How many points off United did we finish in the end ?

we have already amassed the same points haul as we had in total last season

lets judge at the end of the season

we might still win the bugger!

Don't disagree with that at all Balti. Was just saying we were in the race last season too.

We were in the race until Rooney shinned the 'wonder' goal last February

We dropped 14 points (most of them away from home) after that game and we certainly didn't finish 14 points behind the rags ...

Arguably the rags eased off somewhat after the defeat of Chelsea, who also let off the pace to allow us to catch up

I hear you ... I know a lot of people took the view we were never really in it last season. I just think when you look back at the points dropped in February/March in particular, coupled with our two insipid displays on Merseyside in April/May, away form is what cost us big time and we could've put pressure on the rags. Remember they were in the CL + FA Cup as well. I'm not sat here saying "we should've won the league last season" - just that we were in the race, and could arguably have made it even more difficult for the rags but for the same failings which people are pointing at this season.

Neither am I saying we weren't in it, because I believe we were until that f'in shinner
We had some poor displays from January onwards last year in our away form which is being repeated again, the difference being our earlier away form and picking up every point at home this season.
We should have taken points from chelsea, WBA (two more), Sunderland, Everton and Swansea, that's where we have lost it, six easy points we have thrown away
