How long will the rebuild take?

Sadly 3 transfer windows at minimum. The club have been sleeping.

Realistically we need 6/7 elite players in and probably more players need to go due to age, injury prone or poor ability

On top of that pep wants to leave & it’s obvious. He has no energy left himself

It’s a mess

Chelsea new owners didn't give one tiny fuck spent 1.2b in no time that's the amount we need to spend to get the top class players we need..

It’s not as bad as people think. Just as it wasn’t in Pep’s first season. That’s because when you’re at our level you’re only ever 3-4 players away from challenging. It’s just making sure those players are the right ones this time.

Rodri will be back next season.

Then we’ll need:

1 right back
2 midfielders
1 winger (who can actually score/assist)

Maybe a keeper as well if Ederson leaves.
A forward too: that was a big mistake selling Alavarez with no replacement.

we need a striker ASAP to take the load off Haaland who looks completely shot at the moment. Foden was the one bright spot yesterday. i only saw Walker throwing himself to the ground on the highlights post game, what a kin embarrassment. Pep can turn this around in a few months IF he gets the right players in Jan which is a notoriously hard month for signings.
I like the player but I'm struggling to understand why Haaland looks so 'shot'. He's younger than most of our squad, between the amount of time he's been in the PL and international call-ups he's played less fixtures than most of our squad, and much of his time is spent waiting for the ball while others create opportunities for him. I could understand last season when he wasn't fed while De Bruyne was out, but this season there are loads of crosses he should be getting on the end of, but his positioning is all over the place and his pace and timing have been way too leisurely. If he went out on loan at the moment could we honestly say we'd be any worse for it? Can we honestly say our performances with him have been better than the false 9, post-Sergio era? Has no-one else noticed that Haaland is starting practically every game but we all look to Doku to score and if not him, we hope Savinho or Grealish might come on and do something, instead of looking to the guy who is actually a PURE striker and has no other role except to score goals?

I can understand why Bernardo, Stones, Gundo and Walker would be shot - all 30 or over, years of experience in highly competitive leagues, years of City fixture congestion, plus playing for the better international sides...but Haaland is a mystery to me. He is still box office for sure, but I don't think thriving at RM or anywhere else would be guaranteed the way he's playing at the moment. I'm not buying the narrative that he is an exceptional player who is too good for our slump, I think he's part of the problem because he doesn't create and isn't making use of the opportunities others create for him.

Part of the issue is that Pep hasn't necessarily encouraged individuality in players - he's turned them into system players and now that system is in danger of looking outdated, and a key component of it in Rodri is missing. But it does rankle that we're digging out defenders who might have made mistakes, but work their socks off, while Haaland is getting away pretty much scot-free after games where he barely puts a shift in, or lets the likes of Harry Maguire nullify him completely.

Firstly the Management have got to decide if the team needs a complete rebuild or whether some of the issues will disappear once Rodri returns

That isn't quite as easy as it sounds because otherwise it would have been dealt with last season when we experienced bad results without Rodri.

We definitely need two pacy full backs, but once Rodri's presence stops us being caught on the counter attack then I suspect that Gvardiol will look more solid, and Foden will start scoring goals again
Similarly selling Alvarez in the same week that Bobb was injured was disastrous in the short term, but hopefully Bobb will have some influence after Christmas.
De Bruyne will need replacing, if only because we need more assists for Haaland. However we desperately need Doku and Savinho to become more influential
We also need to reduce our list of injury prone players

I worry about the over reliance on Rodri, theres no guarantee that he hits the ground running once he does come back. Obviously we are a shadow of a team without him, and definitely need to be doing more to provide serious competition for that place. Find someone who can fill his shoes if need be, but also thrive right there alongside him. Those players dont grow on trees unfortunately :(

We won the league last season when every player bar KDB had arrived on Pep's watch. If that's not building a squad then I don't know what is.

You say Pep is stubborn when it comes to using the academy, but then say that Lewis, Foden and McAtee are all a waste of a shirt.

You seem to very conveniently 'overlooked' the wealth of Academy talent that has been sold off without being given a decent chance during Pep's tenure.

Rico Lewis is lightweight and isn't good enough for top level. He's a stopgap at best.

Phil Foden is a shadow if the player he was last season. He ghosts through long periods in games, and really has been a waste of time.

James McAtee is the ultimate 'waste of a shirt'. Not because he isn't a decent player, but because Pep is obviously very reluctant to use him, even when a game is in the bag.

Any young Academy player under Pep Guardiola is virtually destined to be overlooked. Looking at the underwhelming players we brought in last summer (at very great expense), it's greatly concerning to see homegrown talent sitting on tge bench gathering cobwebs while so-called 'top' players struggle to reach 50% of past standards.

Pep shouldn't be anywhere near the rebuild.

What people need to realise is we have head and shoulders the highest wage bill the country already even with our small squad.

I would be surprised if they made more than one signing until they can get rid of the ageing player or the deadwood.

Who is actually out of contract in the Summer KDB Walker ? Any others ?

I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Rodri's agent hasn't already been in discussions with Real Madrid.
I can't see him signing another contract at City.

we have to get another striker one thats on form and who will bang the goals in, not Haalands fault but if he had nipped to the chippy during yesterdays game we wouldnt have noticed, maybe pep should keep things simple and play whoever we can from the younger players, again keep it simple and play 4 4 2 with Haaland and the new guy upfront
