How many league goals will Haaland score this season?

A bit of fun - there are 30 games left, and if he stays fit, but plays in, say, 25 of them (due to rotation), then out of the 25, how many times will he:

Score 0
Score 1
Score 2
Score 3
Score 4

I'll go for:

Score 0 x 7
Score 1 x 10
Score 2 x 5
Score 3 x 2
Score 4 x 1

That puts him on 44 for the season, just in the Premier League.
By my arithmetic, his current goals per game tally in the PL alone, if extrapolated, will work out at 66.5 goals in a 38-match season.

This would comfortably beat the record set up by Everton's Dixie Dean in the 1930s (60 goals in a 42-match Div One season).

This is of course making the wild assumption that EH stays fit, doesn't have a barren goalless spell, or doesn't get transferred to Real Madrid as demanded by the media.

I keep trying to do an objective step-back and be rational about it all. Of course there will be a drop off. Of course he won't score 2 or 3 goals every game. The records that exist exist for a reason, he's not going to smash them. But then I start to question myself and think it's irrational to doubt it. Why won't he? I don't think the rest of the team has hit it's height yet, first half against United not withstanding, and some of the players are still getting up to speed with having him on the pitch. He's still gettting used to the pace of the league. I'm trying not to be giddy about it, but why won't he score 1 or 2 against Liverpool or 3 or 4 against Southampton, Brighton, Leicester, Brentford? Who or what is stopping him?

In 11/12, Messi scored 50 and assisted 16 goals in La Liga. He contributed a goal/assist every 49 minutes.

Haaland is contributing a league goal/assist every 39 minutes now. If he doesn't slow down, he will have a better individual season than Messi. Is that impossible? Maybe it is impossible. Messi played in virtually all games. Pep may be more willing to rotate Haaland around the big CL games, if he is fit. But even if Haaland slows down to contributing a goal/assist every 55 minutes, that still would be sensational.

City are the best team for Haaland because no other team is close creativity wise: KDB, Gundogan, Foden, Bernardo, Grealish, Rodri, Cancelo, Mahrez... In terms of creativity, this is one of the best teams ever. With a support like that, he can break Messi's goalscoring records, injuries permitting. If we buy well over the next windows, Haaland is likely to see this is the best place to break records and stay longer than expected.

Messi is the best of all time mate, very much doubt it.

I'm talking about the best individual season in terms of goal involvements.

Messi's longevity means it's virtually impossible for Haaland to match him career wise. But in terms of sheer numbers over a single season, it's less impossible.

I doubt it mate but I also pray that I'm wrong.

That season Pep was beaten by Mourinho and quit for a year, so individual performances are overated.

Agreed. I mentioned in previous posts that Messi's best individual season was a poor season for Pep and Barca.

Hopefully, Haaland's best individual season will be City's best season under Pep.

It’s not impossible but i still believe it’s gonna be difficult doing those numbers England

I know that sounds stupid because Haaland is already breaking records here but I think it’s pretty telling that Suarez, Messi and Ronaldo are the only players that were hitting almost 60 or more in all competitions and they were all playing in the same league. Was it down to them all being great players? Yes, was it also a coincidence they all did it in the same league? I’ll say no.

Put Haaland in those Barca or Madrid teams in those seasons and he would do the same, in my opinion.

Like Suarez and Ronaldo couldn’t, I’m not sure Messi would’ve ever scored 40 in the Premier League in one season, certainly not 50.

All that considered, the fact players like Suarez and Ronaldo couldn’t hit their La Liga numbers in the premier league, if anybody ever hits 40 in the premier league (Haaland or otherwise), I’d say that’s pretty much as impressive as hitting 50 in La Liga during the time Messi did it.
