How many more people will now become City fans?

I have always been a sniffy fucker when an out of towner Blue usually called Colin has started speaking to me when we’ve been on holiday abroad. My GLW has even commented that I have been quite rude! My view? If you ain’t a Manc then you ain’t a Blue and I will confess it was purely because every rag didn’t come from Manchester that we always seemed to meet and I became quite insular with regards to Blues.

I admit now that our fan base has to grow. I was wrong. I suppose I am one of these legacy fans I keep hearing about. Embrace it we’re a global brand.

Maybe in another generation, as the song says, when other lads ( and lasses of course) have come to take our place. We’ll, they’re here now and growing we never stipulated where we wanted them to actually come from did we?

On our family chat room, one family was posting from Crete where one of the youngest was posted wearing knock off football kits. The mother wouldn't post the final photo as the child was wearing a City kit when previously had been a devot red dipper. All down to Jack Grealish and tic-toc influence evidently.
£100M well spent .

priceless.
your retort.
tell us summert we dont know.
doesn't make it right though,
thats why I' m uncomfortable with it and
everyone if they are being honest, a large percentage of our " new fans " are plastic.the same as the rag fans in their glory days.
what once we despised about the rags
is becoming us too.
its inevitable i except, but leaves me uncomfortable.
but at the end of the day in reality your just a supporter the same as anyone else (unless you are employed by the club), the owners wouldnt have bought into the club unless they wanted to expand the supporter base so you cant enjoy this success without acknowledging / accepting what comes with it.

Same here, nearly spat out my Manchester tart when I heard that cockney guy on 93.20, now he is the best thing on it after Ahsan and Howard.

We're gaining fans everywhere. When I emigrated to Oz thirty odd years ago they called the rags "Manchester", like they weren't aware of us at all. (must admit I hated that)....Sometimes I got asked which team I supported I said Manchester City and they looked at me like I got it wrong and should've said United.

It's changed quite a bit since the 80's though and now City are gaining lots of young fans here. I see lads wearing City shirts around the Gold Coast...So for me living abroad it's all positives. Bring it on.

agree same here. i actually think the benchmark in globalisation is when i see one the little kids in a remote aboriginal settlement wearing a city kit - ive seen them in United, Pool and chelsea tops but not city just yet lol.

And at the end of the day
They're still plastics,albeit our plastics,thats a fact.

My post says its inevitable,i acknowledge/accept that ! but I'm uncomfortable with it .

We aren’t just supporters. This is our club that represents the city we live in, and therefore us, in football.

The people employed by our club are just temporary workers who will be long gone one day. All the players and management team will be gone, all the boardroom will be gone, even those who own the shares and invest in the club to make it what it is now will one day be gone. And so will these kind of fans who attach themselves to success (if the extreme ridiculous punishment of being relegated to the fourth tier for our recent charges happened, most of these fuckers would drop us quicker than you can say Financial Fair Play)… but we will still be here!

These nobodies who attach themselves to football clubs because they win stuff and it’s fashionable to do it with Premier League clubs at the moment, are an unfortunate inevitable consequence of success. Of course it’s going to happen. But those who are currently owners or employed at our club should always place the greatest importance on the core local and long-time supporters.

Even twats of clubs like Liverpool understand that.

Jesus wept! What have I walked into in ere? I hope we don’t judge our players, management & owners by the same yardstick we do our supporters. I’ve been a blue for over 35yrs, have no links to Manchester (unchecked) as the crow flies live just shy of 25 miles from the Etihad (just checked) and don’t own a cagoule, that qualifies me as a what? The way some are talking we should’ve stayed at Maine road, and closed memberships to anyone outside the borough, utter madness when you consider we’ve just witnessed some of the best atmospheres at the Etihad

Even twats of clubs like Liverpool understand that.
with their 26’000 season ticket holders and token gestures to keep spirit of shankly quiet, those days are gone for every successful club bar none, I’d rather our owners didn’t even attempt the charade I see at Lfc
