How many points to win the league?

the one thing that concerns me are the injuries....losing sane and Jesus is huge.....esp for another 5-6 weeks for both......delp for another 2-4 weeks as well is a huge loss. We need a bit of luck over the next few weeks with those

Id happily ditch the FA cup to be honest and play a team full of reserves but that wont happen.

Champs league (esp if we beat Basel) will really put the pressure on the squad

Odds are we will probably win it in an away game as we won the last two titles at home (like Newcastle - though hopefully NOT on the last day). Depending on the next three games that could be in March as other teams take points off one another. But it will be after the derby now I suspect. Unless United and Chelsea drop a few more unexpected points. A draw in that game while we are at Wembley will help.

Might be nice to win it at Wembley v Spurs. Probably a realistic option.

Once won we will rightly play some youth and drop points which is why I said earlier we will not win it by double figure margins in the end as we will likely drop a few points to teams that need them when we no longer do. Especially with no unbeaten season to chase.

Records are far less important than winning it in style as we are doing. Even in games like yesterday where tiredness and injuries were showing more than they have we played some great football. That Sterling 'winner' would have been another team goal gem.

THAT is what people in future will remember this season for - our out of this world play that raised the bar for everyone else - not exactly how many points we eventually get home by.

Last game? Christ my nerves are bad enough without that!

If we do manage to win the league early, it doesn’t matter what Pep wants. The players minds will be on the CL if still in it and the World Cup.

84 points should be more than enough to win the league to put it in context 1 win and 11 draws would get is there.
The rags are the only ones anywhere near challenging us and they would have to go on an amazing run just to make it interesting. If we hadn't been so wasteful against Everton, Palace and Burnley we would have wrapped the league up by early March.

We weren't watefull against Everton! We went down to 10 men when 1-0 down, got the equaliser but couldn't find the winner.

If we win the next 4 (Leicester, Arsenal, Chelsea and Stoke) and they lose their next 4 (Newcastle, Chelsea, Palace and Liverpool) then it’s done.

Lets have a bit of positive thinking to back up the positive, joyous football we’ve witnessed all season!
Jesus, now that is comical.

So not 13 then, as I said nobody.

Oh, and without looking, how many points did united have, and how many games did arsenal have in hand ?

I thought I’d look .

After 26 games in 1998, Rags had 53 points, and the Arse had 44 having played two games less.

When Arsenal had played 26 games they had 48 points and were 11 points behind Rags, who had played two games more.

Arsenal won the league on 78 points, with Rags second on 77.

Rags have some tricky games coming up Geordies, Chelsea, Palace and the Dippers. Can see the Dippers perhaps getting a point at the Swamp and even Palace getting point.

Beat Leicester and 4 points from the Arsenal and Chelsea games and we are there for me.

I'm old school. A 12 point lead says we're just about level! I fully expect the rags to win 9 or 10 of their last 12. To be certain of winning the title I reckon we'll need 6 wins and a couple of draws.
But City are 13 points ahead not 12 and with the massive goal difference advantage, United need to make up 14 points in 12 matches. Liverpool need to make up 17 points in 12 as have Chelsea assuming that they beat Watford on Monday. Spurs have to make up 22 points and Arsenal 25. I agree that six wins of two draws will be enough. Four wins will suffice if one of them is against United.

The US statistics site fivethirtyeight.com projects City to finish on 96 points with Liverpool second on 78 and United third on 77. That is a probability of 99%+ of a City title win.

After last nights game any minute and I stress minute chance Liverpool had is now gone.

That leaves Chelsea and Manure but realistically Chelsea would have to win its last 13 games which would ensure it finishes ahead of Manure.

You cannot see Manure finishing on more than 85 points which will be enough to finish ahead of those currently below it.

At present it is 85 points and I suspect as we get closer to the seasons end it will less that 85 points but for those who like to look longer term 16 points in our last 12 games will secure the title this year and their is a reasonable chance it will be less than that.

No mate. I don't think it's just you. There are plenty of arses going.
Personally my head says that we'll piss it but I can't deny this horrible feeling in my stomach.
I am the same I guess we are a similar vintage. I also dread us winning the league and that shower of shite scabbing the CL to take the gloss off it.

I haven't been able to shake that horrible feeling in my stomach for weeks. I'm not quite sure why.

Natural pessimism, maybe, but there seems to be something portentous about the whole thing. Especially with the Media already gifting us the title.

I'll tell what makes it worse in my eyes. It's that those twats are in second place with no one putting any real pressure on them. If it was almost anyone else then I wouldn't be quite as bothered but the thought of them catching us up makes me feel nauseous.

I am exactly the same GM

I think we'll all feel a lot better (or worse, lol) after the Leicester match.
