How many points to win the league?

I’m strongly convinced that our game at the Etihad against the dippers in the spring will be as important in determining the champions as the one against United in April, 2012. It’ll go to the wire. We win, we’re champions. They won’t fade, unless they get a bad injury run.

Edit: sorry, thinking it over, I realised I got that one wrong. My bad. Our game against them is not of course in the spring, but in early January (which is a bit too early for my liking, I’d definitely back us to beat them in a head to head for the title late on in the season, although I still reckon we’ll do it because, very simply, we’ve got a better team than them man for man across the board). My point still stands. We lose to them, and I think it could cost us dearly. A draw leaves it in the balance. We win, and I think we’ll take the title by a couple of points.

Given equal fixtures/injuries/suspensions then City have the stronger squad. However, Liverpool are already out of the League Cup, and there will be further distractions, which could tilt the balance in either direction over the coming months.

Liverpool are definitely stronger than last season, but equally they won't be able to prioritise the CL, whilst rotating for the league fixtures, as they did last Spring.
Every game will be crucial, so hopefully we'll grind them into submission.

As things stand we're on course for 103 points.

How funny would if be if Liverpool got 100 points and still didn't win the league.

That would be funny, but there is no way they are breaking 90pts this season. Mid 80s at best is all they can hope for with that midfield.

I think it’s a bit to early to be saying that. Any other season, City would be a good few points clear by now. Liverpool are digging in deep, if they beat Everton today, that puts them two points behind City with us playing at Stamford Bridge next week.

Well it wouldn't be funny would it, because City are the only club to reach 100 points in premier league history and some of us would like to keep it that way for more than 1 season at least.
