So by the time we play our next league match, the gap could be eight points, with united playing Burnley next week, while we play Chelsea in the FA cup SFd could even overtake us
Oh god the sky is falling in, we are all doomed, the rags will win those games in hand ans could even overtake us

Our biggest problem is not the team, squad, manager or backroom staff it is the sheer number of weak minded poster's and wums on bluemoon, absolute shithouses, quivering because we lost, imagine being in the pub when it kicks off with these people ,grow a fucking pair, we have a minimum 8 point lead, we will dominate every game, we will create enough chances to beat any team, we might lose some but we will win more than we lose, bring on Dortmund, get through that game then on to the FA CUP semi final, a great time to be a blue
Absolutely this. What is up with people. We lost one game ffs. Grow up lol

That's all part and parcel of being a blue and having been around to witness the shit times when we had a penchant for routinely shooting ourselves in the foot. The younger ones probably won't be quite as nervy as us older ones, but as for that bolded bit, well believe me you wouldn't want to be saying that to some of our lot despite the fact a few of them went into a bit of a flap after United won yesterday. There's absolutely no fucking correlation between someone thinking the league isn't sewn up yet with work still to be done, and whether or not that same person can hold their own if it boots off in the pub.
It’s not the old city though is it. The title run in 2 seasons ago when Liverpool wouldn’t go away but we kept winning and winning and winning got rid of the old city for me - even as an old one :)

Old City never goes away completely mate. Anyway, here's something for you to consider - we could go unbeaten in the league between now and the end of the season and still lose it with a game to spare ;)

The more trophies we want to win, the more risks we need to take. Only the final outcome can tell us whether the risks have been justified. The season has been great so far, and we are still in all competitions. Rotation has worked fine.

If we think that the PL title is enough, then we play our best team in the PL and rest players in the other competitions. But the club is more ambitious than that. We want to be among the biggest clubs in the world, so we can't neglect the CL. Given that we have won the domestic treble 2 years ago, the CL is a firm priority this season, even at the risk of letting United get back into the PL title hunt.

A reasonable strategy may be to try to win the PL and the CL, and take big risks in the cups with playing squad players: i.e., something somewhat similar to what Liverpool do. But if you are 11-14 pts clear in the league or even 6-8 pts with 5-6 games to go, why not try harder to win also the cup competitions? A PL/CL double would be truly great, but Liverpool and United have already done it several times. If we want City to beat their achievements, then go for the cups as well.

So, if we want to have a really great season, but not the greatest, then go just for the PL and the CL. But if we want to achieve more than Liverpool and United, go for the lot. Which means take significant risks.

Trying to win the lot is very risky, but it is potentially incredibly rewarding. Nobody knows whether the risks will be justified. Letting United close the gap is dangerous, but that's the price of wanting to win a treble/quadruple.

For what it's worth, I don't think we're going to get this wrapped up up early unfortunately (which might help in other comps) but I also don't think it is going down to the last day either. I bloody hope not, anyway!

Can see us and United dropping a few more points before we get to the finish line.

Pretty straightforward to me. Leeds was a game we could afford to lose. Had Pep gone hell for leather on Saturday and lost on Wednesday or got injuries we'd not hear the last.

If we were level at the top and not a countrymile ahead then things would be different but as things stand the Villa and Palace games are the ones where we go to full strength.

Pep has some big decisions to make. IF we go through against Dortmund. We'll have Bayern/PSG in the semi-final before Palace and Chelsea in the league.

If Pep is bricking it half as much as some posters here. he'll have to risk KDB, Dias, Foden, Gundogan etc....before those games.
Good point, I don't think he'll rotate as much as he did at the weekend if we make it through on Wednesday. We'll still rotate but not to that degree.
