Oh fuck, that's it now. You need to play some " us trying to avoid relegation" matches from the 1980's and 90s to get a little more depressed, they don't call us 'blues' for nothing.
Here I'll start you off;-

Funny story about that. I have a good mate who's a QPR fan and he told me that in late 1999 some Christian website in the USA had a poll to find 'the man of the millenium', obviously with the expectation that the answer was going to be Jesus Christ. (The fix was in, obviously). Some QPR fans found it and voted hundreds of times - it was early internet days so I imagine they didn't have the technology to track multiple votes from the same IP address - to such an extent that the winner was in fact Jamie Pollock. Might be a QPR urban legend though.

Might well be true, they did a similar thing for goal of the season or similar and the media still mention the vote.

It's decades of that very glum existence that has created that mentality lol.

I remember in 2012 when the rags went 8 points clear with only 6 games to go. They were all over social media gloating and mocking us, celebrating winning the title. I answered a few of them by saying they better pray they don't blow it now as they'll never live it down. Absolutely zero chance of that was the reply. We all know what happened next

Win their game in hand and the rags are in exactly the same position. 8 points behind with 6 games to go. They are considered to have no chance, not against a highly successful squad motivated by the best manager in world football, exactly as it was for us facing Ferguson's United back then. The way it is panning out is spookily similar, that's why those of us with a nervous disposition and a bit superstitious worry.
I know it seems the same but it really isn't.

In 2012 we had to play Utd. That meant that they had to drop a further 5 points in 5 games for us to have the chance to draw level with them.

A fairer way to directly compare the seasons is to imagine we were 11 behind with 7 games to go (with the Derby one of the 7 games).

Added to that the 17 GD advantage we have means we would have needed Utd to drop another point.

So to win the league we would have to
-beat Utd
-Utd drop 9 points in their 6 other games.

Also as a general point we are speaking amongst friends here, with no comebacks. I would never state 'we've won the league' in the real world. 99% chance of doing it so I'm very comfortably stating it here.

If you haven't lived the shit then you re not a citizen.... but I m too old and tired to live it again... :(
