In that case then, winning by goals scored is also bona fide. So all games are nil nil except 2 that we play against different teams are 1-1 & 2-2, we win on goals scored, with all teams on 38 points! Which teams to get relegated out of the 17 that drew all games nil-nil would be an issue though......
Champions get to pick, that's only fair. Rags, Spuds, Dippers.

You could win with 39. Every game but 3 are draws. In those 3, Team A beats Team B who beats Team C who beats Team A. Team A-C finish on 39 and the one with the better goal difference wins.

I know you said ruling out points ties, but winning by goal difference is bona fide. In fact, I vaguely remember the title being decided that way some season.
True - but in the same vein, every single team could draw each other - all ending on 38 points. Then goal difference comes into question. This again ranks all teams the same. The third metric, is goals scored. Obviously you can arrange matches such that 1 of the 38 tied teams has more goals scored.

Edit - I see that aguero93:20 has stated the same above.

Maths.
I enjoy English.
Me too.

I especially find interesting phrases that mean the exact opposite in England than in America.

For example, so-in-so is having a "torrid game."
In England - it means that the player is struggling.
In America - it means that the player is on a hot streak - performing very well.

Another example - there's a "foul on" player A.
In England - it means that some other player, committed a foul on player A.
In America - it means that player A committed the foul.

Then there are phrases that seem to indicate the opposite of what is stated but that don't have exact analogues. For example:
In England - Player A "just about" kept the ball in play
In America - There's no exact comparison. Except that such and such "just about" happened means that such and such did not happen but that it nearly occured. So Player A "just about" kept the ball in play would seem to mean that the ball went out of play - but barely so.

Interesting, but I'm not sure your second example is correct. To me (born within earshot of the roar of a packed Maine Road crowd) a foul on KDB means KDB was fouled, not that he committed a foul.

They would come up with some mechanism to make the Scousers or Scum champions

Does anyone happen to know or remember what our odds to win the league were in 2012?

After Arsenal game. When we were 8 points behind with a worse GD.
Before the utd game.
After utd game.
Before qpr.
In play at 1-2 around 90 minutes.

Lot to ask I agree.
I don't know about the first few but this article tells you the inplay prices.

'QPR reached a low of 1.34 and could have been backed at 24’s at the off, City started at 1.15 before reaching a high of 55. The draw could have been laid at 1.30 or backed in the late teens. If you succesfully laid each of the match odds selections at their lowest point you would have returned 238% of your stake, plenty of room for error!'

Thanks. Interesting read

We were 33/1 with about 12 minutes to go and 50/1 shortly after, still kicking myself as I had the bet ready to put on at 50s and didn't place it.

I don't know how you even thought it about aguero93:20 ( still think your forum name hasn't been topped a religious tone to it as well ) I was shitting bricks knowing what was going on at Sunderland that I couldn't breath least of all move my fingers.

You are one cool customer.

I thought if we scored once we'd score twice, QPR were knackered. It was my faith in getting that first goal that was wavering.
