If he'd done it in a rag or Liverpool shirt, you could add another £10M to that.
Come on, get real.
He was brilliant last season but it was bascially his forst outstanding season. You and I might know that he has always shown that he has got top class technique but in terms of setting a price for a player then someone who, to the outsider, could be a one season wonder and has done nothing in international football is never going to fetch £20m.
Gareth Barry has done it for years and is an established England international. Yes, he is older but he has gone for half your price.
Even Valencia, who I think we all agree is over priced, has had several solid years in the Prem and has regularly put in good performances against the best South American international football has to offer.
If he was being sold to one of the big four, with the premium that they pay, he would probably go for something like £8m-10m in my view. I discount ridiculous prices like Glen Johnson because Benetiz has a history of choosing to pay ridiculous money for average players. But even Johnson has a few very good Premiership seasons under his belt.
And none of that is to say that I don't think he is brilliant because, in my view, he should be one of the best players in this league for the next 5 years if he carries on.
if u saw my last quote u would probably know i was joking but the fact is after last season (and knowing hes training very hard, off his own back and not just at carrington) ireland IS in fact superman, and hes only gonna get better if he keeps training like he is, conclusion.............. IRELAND IS PRICELESS
