Not read this whole thread , but surely the answer is simple , open cupboard , take out rice , give to wife , enjoy soggy free rice . Simples !!

Married to an Asian I have this mastered to a tee!

Boiled Rice
Buy top quality rice - Extra Long grain Basmati rice

As mentioned before buy a rice cooker
Wash the rice in water to remove the starch
1 1/4 cups water to 1 cup rice - normally use 2 cups rice so just double the water (the key is not too much water)
I add 2 or 3 Himalayan Pink Salt crystals and pepper

Then simply wait for the rice cooker to tell you when it is cooked

It's easy to slightly adjust the recipe
Add Saffron to give you Saffon infused rice
Add Turmeric to give you a lovely yellow coloured rice
Add coconut milk, spices and kidney beans to give you spicy rice and peas - http://cooklikeajamaican.com/rice-and-peas/

If you want to do sticky rice

Soak the rice for 4 hours in a little cold water before cooking
I do the same ratio as above for rice to water and salt/ spice to taste
The key is never to stir the rice
When you think it is ready just poke a fork in the middle and prise it from the center to see if all the water has gone
Add a little salt then sit the rice for 20 minutes at room temperature before eating

Madchester , most detailed poster ever in whatever forum you post , keep it going mate genuinely love it

Buy a plastic veg/rice steamer for around £12
Use basmati long grain rice
Pour rice into steamer (approx 1/4 inch depth) and wash through a couple of times and then put water in until it is just covering the rice and leave for a few minutes.
Put steamer into microwave and cook for 10-12 minutes (dependent on micro wave power).
Give a quick stir and taste. If soft then fine otherwise a minute or two more until done.
Empty remaining water.
Result fluffy rice in 15 minutes with minimal effort.
Add a knob of salted butter and stir in (optional)

If you want fluffy and sticky basmati rice then buy Sainsbury's. Or buy sticky rice.

Bring to the boil and simmer in plenty of water. Pour off the water when its cooked and put the lid back on, off the heat for a few minutes to steam through. If you want to be fancy you can rinse the rice through before you cook it, to loose some of the starch, but not much point: just fine the simple way I've described.

Bit severe Mr Tangerine , have you taken the time to read some of his pre match posts , really interesting and full of useful information , As for your comments about his wife , think that was just mentioned in relation to the initial topic , have a good night

If aimed at me, it was just a stupid joke mate... obviously not much of a joke. It is true eastern people eat more rice. I learnt how to make nice rice from my Asian ex-wife.
