How UEFA shifted the goalposts on FFP. The definitive story.

To implement ffp, uefa had to everyone agreement
Only Chelsea refused, about a year after the takeover, abromovich, realised we needed stopping and agreed to it and it came in force.

Excellent article PB I had to read it out loud in the end to ensure it registered(haha):you’re very. Clever. You know City should employ someone like you.
thanks for the time you spent on this

The whole thing is bent and is designed at keeping the cartel of already rich clubs at the top table. It creates barriers to entry in that lets say we had adhered to all these rules which would seriously restrict our budgets for buying and paying players wages. Which in turn means that if we have a sustained successful period like we are in now then how can we stop the cartel coming in and plundering all our best players from our squad because they can pay them more and just keep adding to there already star studded squads.

What they should really be looking at is like what the banks have had to do with their stress tests of their balance sheets and how they would survive if say that they were relegated (unlikely event). But still this was supposed to be about stopping clubs going bust why should they be treated as they should be like businesses and test them in accordance of that?

I note that the Rob Wilson and Halam University said we would still probably have failed.
Of course Rob, but you are being a bit disingenuous as there is a massive difference between failing by less than 10m and 100m. The first gets you a warning the latter gets you a massive fine/ban.

Question for PB...

When was FFP introduced by UEFA, was it [1] before Chelsea became the beneficiary of the Rouble, was it [2] later than that but before our Sheikh Mansour takeover, or [3] following our takeover. If these rules were in place before [1], a case could be made for fairness but if later than [3] then there is no doubt who these measures were aimed at.

They were going to introduce rules about debt, but when we made our "money no object" bid for Kaka, the cartel and UEFA shit themselves, so it morphed into spending restrictions
