How would you assess Rodri's season?

Struggled a bit with the pace and understanding of where and when to be covering. There were a few games he got that spot on and he looked immense in those. Unfortunately, ONE of the reasons we got caught out so much was due to this.

They old wait until next Season Chestnut. Not good enough, end off. A shining example of what is wrong with our Scouting System. It's obvious Pep never bothered looking at him personally if you read his comments on him when we bought him. Skilful, quick thinking, strong in the tackle, able to pick a forward pass and the clincher for me "dangerous at set pieces".
Good grief.

Could not agree more with all of that

I wish we’d have bought Fabinho when we were linked with him, personally. He has so much more mobility. Rodri has been disappointing.

Rubbish. Very disappointing. I can't write him off totally, but he's tested my patience to the point where I'm completely unsure if he's every going to be a success at City.

Substandard.

Quite simply he doesn’t have the mobility required for the system we play. That’s not necessarily his fault it’s more a scouting error in my eyes, generally speaking you don’t lose or gain mobility (unless you’re aging or have suffered serious injury) so it should have been spotted long before we signed him and once we did push though and sign him, the system had to change to accommodate it. This is going to remain a serious issue next season.

There’s other issues with his game too, positionally he needs to improve and his passing is far too pedestrian and without purpose for the most part, it goes side to side and backwards way too much and not enough passing through the lines, this can be improved upon however so isn’t a major worry.

The positives are physically he’s imposing, doesn’t get bullied and when teams look to play route one with power and height rather than speed he excels as he showed against Burnley.

Needs a better DM next to him.

I'm not liking our transfer success rate recently.
