How would you describe your relationship with London?

Despise the place and people generally, although I was treated to a few days to Camden recently and enjoyed that, maybe being with someone who's lived there for nigh on 20 years, knew the place and people well made a difference, fuck knows, didn't feel as bad as previous visits, can still take it or leave it.

Terrific place. Go for work quite often and still get a frisson of excitement as I get there. Not sure why, but I do.
I love going to it and spending a day or two there but, perversely, I love leaving it as well. Probably not appreciated by the perceived native rivalries prevalent throughout the UK, but I think it's a great city that easily rivals New York, Barcelona, Berlin and Paris and am glad it's 'ours'.

Despite the home town username I've lived in capital city for 25 years now and it's been non-stop love/hate. It's crowded, it's noisy, it's full of cockneys, it takes too sodding long to get anywhere, but (and particularly when you're young, which I was - ish - when I first came here), it's got everything going on. History, architecture, parks, theatreland, boutiques, world famous department stores, great restaurants and bars, and any number of self-contained areas where you can have a great night out - Camden, Kings Cross, Islington, Hoxton, Brick Lane, Hackney, Spitalfields, Soho, Covent Garden, Brixton, Clapham, Chelsea, Kensington, the South Bank, Borough Market, the list is almost endless. It's one of the 3 or 4 best cities in the world no question in my book. Half the time I love it, half the time I'd move back to Devon in a heartbeat

I like it because it seems like a foreign country to me, like many have said it's a great place to visit but I would not like to live there, New York is the same

City tours trip down the Thames from Westminster to Tower Bridge always goes down well with tourists. Takes you past the Eye, the South Bank, the Globe, St Paul's etc etc. The Motown and Carole King (Beautiful) plays are pretty good, as are Mathilda (for you and the 11 year old rather than the 16 year old) and Mama Mia (if your 16 year old is a girl). Some great views of London from up the Shard. London Dungeons at London Bridge are pretty good and they're close to Borough Market (food and drink) and the Clink prison museum. Camden Lock's good too.
