Howard Webb

Thanks @Prestwich_Blue for the time in your responses, I remember something similar muttered but didn't know much in depth about it, unless my memory evades me.

It's been happening at City for decades, I don't personally use the term but I'm certainly used to it. It's banded about at away games and in the south stand even today.
Glad to hear you don't use it.....just because 'it's been happening for decades' still doesn't make it acceptable does it?
Anyway, as Prestwitch Blue alluded to... It's been dealt with and the coc on here doesn't allow it!

What's always struck me is that I don't remember the refs being this consistently bad against us when we were shit. Of course there were some bad decisions, but not the overall consistent bias of smaller decisions going against us throughout the match.

The worst for me was actually a game we won. 3-1 vs Wolves at home. We were top and unstoppable and Wolves I think were bottom. The referee was Stuart Attwell and he sent Kompany off in the 2nd half which was the only decision he got right all game.

Just look at the foul stats though. That is absolutely obscene considering the different in quality between the two teams. Extremely dodgy imo.

We also beat Chelsea at home 2-0 12-13 season and didn't get our first free kick until the 2nd half.

We consistently for the last few seasons have had the majority if possession yet our opponents are awarded more free kicks.

There was a game last season where we were 'fouled' every 19 mins of possession and our opponents were awarded a free kick every 3 mins they had the ball.

If we were that poor at tackling the TV would pan us, they never miss a trick anyway but nothing is ever said....makes you wonder.

maybe we commit more fouls trying to get the ball back quickly, where as the other team sits off us ,just a thought

Don't want to denegrate our great side, but a lot of the fouls we commit are stopping breaks after some sloppy play
and they are yellows all day, i'm afraid. Saying that our opponents do seem to get away with the same, more often
than not.

I think we don't commit any more fouls than anybody else. It's a case of our tackles being called fouls and half of the oppos fouls being deemed fair tackles, and that's not just verbal gymnastics. There was an incident in the last game where Silva was fouled twice in the same attempt to chop him and it was only the second attempt that the ref deemed the tackle to be a foul. It led me to think that we had to be fouled twice to get a free kick. Very similar challenges by teams are allowed to ride whereas ours are blown.
