Huddersfield (A) Post Match Thread

It is quite obvious that the men in the middle have been given instructions to keep games as tight as possible so it looks good and interesting for the cameras and therefore TV revenue. Never mind the clear penalty not given, we were constantly fouled and they were ignored and a clear scooped handball was ignored by the linesman. They knew that as soon as City scored it was over as a contest and they had been told to keep it interesting hence no penalty. If the bent bastard had been able to chalk Dani's goal off he would have done so.
Absolutely shocking performance from the officials.

Far better second half and those two quick fire goals killed the game completely, just need to keep tabs with the scousers and wait and hope they slip up as for the non penalty I honestly would love to know how the ref seen that as nothing along with the linesman it’s not even incompetence it’s cheating by not awarding a pen according to the laws of the game ...

I’m watching the post match stuff and I don’t think he was offside.
Even Shearer reckons there is no way the Lino could give it
They drew a line on the pitch during the game and it looked very much like Sane had one foot offside when the ball was kicked to him. Agree it would have been practically impossible for the lino to see it and give it. It’s a minor point anyway. I think if there was VAR the goal wouldn’t have been given.

Job done. Pretty poor first half but devestating ten minutes spell second half put paid to them and then we took it easy.

Got the job done, generally never in danger but well below our best in terms of both quality and intensity. Probably what you get for not starting anyone named Silva though. Huddersfield are a bad Championship team tbh, they aren't going to trouble anyone.

A good 10 minute spell was all we really needed, but some pretty poor individual performances from the midfield (other than Fern, who not at his best, still much better than the others) and the Walker/otamendi disaster waiting to happen. Walkers form this year is getting to be a concern as his head seems to have gone, he's making the bad decisions he used to make at Spurs instead of the good ones he made last year. Danilo coming back and looking decent is a relief on that front as it takes pressure off Kyle (or puts it on?)

Either way, onwards and upwards. We'll play better than that you imagine if we need to, as Huddersfield really were tame.

We can't afford to play like we did first half, full stop, imo.

This was probably the only team who wouldn't take advantage & last season, even they would have made us pay, possibly today if Mooy had played.

We keep on going

Walker, Gundogan and Otamendi not first team form at the moment but we need the squad depth more than ever now

Mariner is a joke not just the pen decision but only gave us any protection from naughty challenges when game was won

Hope we don’t get him too much more

PEP Second half we were better, especially the first 15. Our rhythm was not quick enough [in the first half] but we would take that result. I am honest with them and tell them all the time what I feel.

PEP @DeBruyneKev played 90 minutes, that is good news. When you are iong-time injured you need the rhythm. @aguerosergiokun was sick and he needs time.

PEP I would rather be in Liverpool’s position. All we can do is win our games. Improve, analyse our games and try to improve. I cannot answer about Liverpool every press conference. Now we have Carabao Cup. We will see.

PEP (102) is a lot of goals yeah. We have done so good. In the @premierleague one team has been better but it’s January and there are many games left to play. In January, you don’t win the league

Job done and keeps up the pressure. Poor, I thought, in the first half, better in second but never in any danger. And yes, every other top six side gets given that penalty.

Far from our first below par performance of late. Last 25 minutes of the 1st half were as bad as we’ve played all season. Walker was an accident waiting to happen, Gundogan gave the ball way incessantly, and KDB looked every inch someone who hasn’t played in months. Even Ferna gave away sloppy possession more than once. If Pep tore them a new one at half time they all fucking deserved it. Much better for the first 10 minutes of the 2nd half, and coasted thereafter

Very average performance against a poor side. Mariner is an apology of a ref and following Scudamore's instructions to not give City anything.

We did not need to get out of 1st gear today, but the performance in general was not great, stray passing, slow build up play and lack of tempo. At the end of the day 3 points and a clean sheet, should not be too despondent.

Walker is really beginning to worry me now...two examples from the game. Could have been sent off with a stupid tackle and in the last minute the winger just strolled past him when they almost scored. Against the top teams in the CL he will have to dramatically improve his performances.
Spot on - he’s been dropped once already this season and he constantly drops concentration and makes rash decisions - Wigan last season just one example - if he does this against teams in the latter stages of the CL it could be costly - but his price tag and wages would mean it maybe difficult to move him on - a solution for the bigger games maybe when Mendy is fit play Danilo at RB and rotate Walker into games like today where if he makes a mistake it won’t be too important as our attack will still get the result
